Heres the deal. My son has a history of saying he is sick so he can stay home from school, but only to find out later that he could have gone to school. If he felt a little down he would put on this big show on how sick he was. If he forgot to do his homework he would play sick. One year he had to do saturday school because he missed more than 10 days.

This year I told him he would have to go each and every day sick or not. Basicly you cried wolf too many time in the past so I do not know when to believe him. I told him I want perfect attendance from now on. Of course if he if puking is brains out of has a high fever I will not make him go, but the general rule now is he has to go. I did send him three times this year even though he said he did not feel well. He cried and put on a big show. One of the times the nurse called. I asked if he had a fever and she said no, did he throw up, no. I then told her what was going on and she sent him to class. Do you think I'm being too harsh?

She is my only living child, I lost my son to prematurity 5 years ago, so my husband and I do spoil, but I cant take the bratty acting... Now she is much smarter, than a average 3 year old. and alot more mouthy in the sassy department also... I know it is from being around grown ups... Next year she goes to Pre K.. But I need ideas to make her realize, she just cant act any and every way she wants, also, is this normal for 3 year old's......?

As a mom, I don't smooke or drink coffee. My parents do drink coffee, but they do not smoke. I never liked the way coffee tastes or smells.

Things around the home in general..it seems like everything is always strung out here and there...

Also with kids toys...my gosh - they just got presents the last two days and they're already missing pieces..no matter how many times I tell them not to lose anything...but that's a whole other question..

I want to be a neat freak, but I don't have the compulsion...HELP!

Yes, I've asked this before, but I'd like more answers.

My daughter is 15yrs old and she is starting to change I fear for the worst. Her fav. color used to be blue but now it's changed to black ( no big deal) now all she wants to wear is black clothing. She's started listening to these bands: korn, avenged sevenfold, system of a down, greenday, kill hannah, and sum 41. I'm really worried about these bands could you please tell me if they have suicide lyrics or anything I should be concerned about? I'm really worried about her she's stopped hanging out with her old friends and now she has "new" friends that I hardly ever get to see. I've only got to see this one guy named Aaron who wears tight jeans which is really awkward to me he has TO ME longer than normal hair for a guy not like past the shoulder or anything but that's besides the point. Everytime I see him he is wearing these tight clothes. Should I be worried about my daugther please help me with this situation. Thanks, Judy.

Too soon? Too late? Not enough time to self/with spouse? What sort of things do you wish you had done before having kids (besides things like getting a degree, jobetc)...I mean any wishes like traveling the world, etc., etc.

Ok, I'm a guy and do wear girl clothes. My parents are fine with it and so are my friends. I'm very popular. My grandparents are VERY strong Christians and they say it's inappropriate. I actually in the Christmas choir for my school and I was wearing a Santa dress. After the concert alot of my friends were saying I did a really good job on my solo and my grandparents came up and all they did was scold me. I actualy got a really nice dress for Christmas from my girlfriend and they freaked out.
What should I do?

I've realized over time, I've had this increasing desire to be a mother.. not only a mother, but the mother of my love's children. He means the world to me! I want to share something so special as having children together. I know he and I will be working partners as parents.. neither of us will do "most of the work". With all this going on through my heart and brain nearly all the time, I'm unsure if I'll be able to put this off until I graduate from college. Now, looking back at my feelings, it seems like the last how many months I was just at a "plateau" where I thought there's no way I could want them more than I did. I want them even more now. Right now, I feel like I need to ask him if I promise not to say anything until it feels like I cannot bear it anymore if he'd agree to let it happen also. He wants us to have children as much as I do. I don't imagine myself hitting this point until senior year, is it a bad idea? :(

I hate to call my daughter a spoiled brat but that is exactly what she is. We punish her time out going to her room no spanking, but nothing seems to work. She is sassy, rude and plan mean to me especially. I was raised with spankings and turned out just fine. Im wondering if this is how I should start to punish her.

I work in an elementary school and I would say over 75% of kids today are brats and I wonder if this is from the lack of discipline in homes? You don't have to work in school to notice it either just go around children. Is it just me or does anyone else see this.

I'm not saying the reason is because few ppl spank I don't know the reason all I need a is advice on how to get an 8 yr old to show me respect.

I can't stand the way my in-laws parent. This Christmas they let their children to play with this electronic toy which no one could think or talk over. When I said I had enough of it then allowed their children to continue playing with this toy annoying everyone including the dog. They allowed their children to tease the dog without saying a word and when the dog finally barked at them a lecture was given to us about why they don't trust dogs and kids together. What do you do with these people? I can't stand being around them and their kids.

This isn't about me by the way but I was wondering.
Would you ask him straight out and see what he replied or wait and see if he said anything?
Would you think about his upbringing and wonder if you possibly "caused" him to turn that way - or what would you do?
As I say this is nothing to do with me but the thought crossed my mind and I would be interested in what those who *did* suspect such would do - or what they *have* done.

Even till this day he still calls her Pia. I was just curious if any other parents have kids like my son. Or is my son just strange LOL

My husband was in Iraq for a year so I lived with my parents and my little girl every other week. Well now my husband has been home for 4 months and my ex husband has been saying my daughter has been acting up since my husband has been home. My current husband and I have noticed a difference but nothing too terrible. I mean she is 5 yeasr old and pushing buttons. Well my ex wants her to start going to counceling because he thinks there is something wrong with her. Like I said she is generally a pretty good girl when we have her, she is happy and playful loves to take baths and look pretty like any little girl. We do have a problem getting her to eat and fall asleep but that is about it. She tells me everytime I pick her up that she wants to stay with me forever.
Her dad is blaming me and my new husband for her problems and says he is going to get down tothe bottom of it. I guess what I am looking for is some kind of advice on how to deal with this.

Some argue that it can be good because it makes alcohol seem less like a forbidden temptation and makes them less likely to get drunk and crazy as soon as the opportunity comes up. Others argue that it plants seeds for alcohol problems because drinking becomes a part of the kid's life a little too early. What do you think?

I am just wondering. I have 2 children my daughter just turned 5 yesterday and my son is almost 18 months old. My husband and I are wanting to have more children. I kind of want to start trying now, but my husband wants to wait for another year that way our kids will be at least 3 years apart. What do you think?? If I were to conceive within the next month or two my son would be about 2 years old when I had our next child. Is that a good age gap?

My daughters father and I have been together for just about 4 years now. She just turned 1yr. He left us to supposedly better our relationship and his career. he has been gone 4 months now and just barely sent me money. He said he sent $300 dollars but when I got the check it was only $250, we had agreed that he would send $400 but said that he had taken just a bit to buy her a present that he has not yet purchased. I don't mean to sound greedy but I don't have a job. I lost my job when he left because I couldn't afford daycare plus baby expenses. I live with my parents who say that he is an immature guy who only cares about himself. Of course I always try to defend him, but he always lets me down, but for some reason every time I talk to him he convinces me that he is doing every thing with good intentions I feel so damn pathetic and stupid. What do you think? Am I stupid??? Should I try to get full custody of my daughter?
