Parents nowadays would rather be best friends than parents. I'm not going to say that kids aren't going to experience a little. It's kind of hard not too when that's basically all high school is about. You have to smoke, drink, have sex, etc to fit in. However, it's not impossible to say "no". I never drank, smoked, or had sex in high school. I didn't care if anyone thought I was uncool, because my mother was killed to a drunk driver. Drinking is not cute, nor is it cool. but kids these days will do anything to fit in. I seriously think if everyone was jumping off bridges, the majority of the child population would be doing it also.
With that said, it's parents fault too. I know someone who allows her 14 year old to live with her 21 year old boyfriend. Parents expect kids to grow up too fast these days, it's ridiculous. Why not allow them to just be kids?

Dear Miss
I was brought up that every thing was wrong no matter what you just was not allowed to do it at all and that was the rules set in my house hold until you was out of high school my parents just did not go for it and you better not do it at all are you got in deep trouble the kind that you could not sit down but on a pillow and children today so that the parents do not have to mess with they give them any thing that they want no questions ask for example the new w ii by Nintendo game system and they do not even have to earn it like we all did in the 1940 50 60 70 80 OK that is what is wrong with children today OK

It's all wrong. If every young lady began having sex in their teens, few would make it through college. Their babies would be small from the smoking, and their children would be more susceptible to asthma and ear infections. They may pick up an STD or two from unprotected sex. And lastly, they would run the risk of becoming an alcoholic young in their lives.
It's wrong, and we adults have to work very hard to put an end to it. We have to be responsible RAISING OUR KIDS. We have to quit letting daycares raise our kids, and we have to stop sitting them in front of the TV as a babysitter. We have to slow our lives down and make time to talk and play and read and run with our kids. There is no replacement for a concerned, responsible parent.

I started having sex @13 which ironically is about the time I started smoking and drinking as well. None the less you can't blame parents....kids are going to do what they want to do eventually...the best that a parent can do is education them and give them the facts so if they do decide to proceed, they at least understand the consequences as well as how to protect themselves.
I knew kids who were 11 and I also know kids who waited till they were older. Most seem to have the same basic knowledge or lack there of. It really did depend on the child, having sex is a conscience decision that know one, no matter what age goes into lightly. I think a lot of it is part of development, I developed earlier than some of my peers and not as early as others.

Smoking while pregnant is worse than being 13 or 14 and prego. QUIT SMOKING.
What is wrong with this world is parents are hardly involved in their kids lives anymore. Welcome to the real world where it isn't the 1950's. Kids learn from video games and not books. They listen to rolemodels like the Simpson's rather than superman or heman. Makes me sick to.
By the way are you married? if not then I could say the same to you, What is wrong with the world today when women are getting pregnant without a wedding band? Having premarital ... the world is so messed up.

Mostly bad parenting and media.
I'm sorry, normally I wouldn't say anything, but you are ranting about making bad choices and yet you smoke while pregnant? Do you really have room to talk?
I'm 21, married and pregnant with my first. I quit smoking after I got pregnant...

13,14 and 15.. meaning you were 16 when you first had sex I'm assuming? that's ok if you live in the UK as it's legal. However... you're 19 and pregnant.. and smoking!! and you drank when 17.. underage..!?
I don't think you are in the right place to judge.

Hey Pot can you hear me? It's kettle.
I think you should look in the mirror. Bad to smoke while pregnant and could do more damage to unborn child than 14 yr old pregnant that doesn't smoke.

Kids in this generation were born to younger parents than ever before. Parents who were still children themselves and thus very selfish with their time and attentions. Not too mention current role models in Hollywood who do these children have to look up to. The world needs better role models.
