Honey, Pia is a lot better than Boo-boo...which is what my sister used to call me.
My neighbor was called Bobo (as in the clown) and my boyfriend was called Ris ris.
Who knows where these strange names come from? LOL. All I know is *eventually* they go away...usually after the older sibling strangles them for calling them that in public LOL.
Good luck

We speak English at home but lived in Geneva, Switzerland (french speaking) for a long time. A french word for grandma is 'mamy' which sounds a lot like the 'mummy' my son would call me. One day he looked at his grandmother (he was about 18mths) and just said, 'hey, lady' and now that has stuck. All the kids call my mother-in-law 'lady' and so do some of their long-time friends. We moved back to Australia and my husbands parents came too.....
By the way, my oldest son calls his younger brother 'precious' and gets called 'goat' in return.....

My brother ( 27 ) and my self ( 28 ) have nicknames that young children shouldn't call each other. Mind you were adults and these names didn't come around till we were in our late teens.
My nickname for him is windowlicker,( his other nickname from me is Zebber, his name is Zeb, and it's usualy the one i call him in public or mixed company) long story short every so often he acts so retarded. So thats where that one comes from.
His for me is just as bad and the story is funnier. He calls me sh!tty. Growing up i was called sissy ( mind you sissy has nothing to do with my name, it starts with an I ). My mom to this day still calls me sissy. Well my brother went to say hey sissy, and it came out hey sh!tty. Which made him laugh like hell and it's stuck. So when i send him emails, i signed them love sh!tty.
Sometimes nicknames are just that special way sibblings show each other how much they love each other.

YES! In my immediate family we do. I only have one child, so I am not sure if they will or not, when there are more. But ever since we were kids, I call my brothers Roogie (Austin is his real name) and Bean (Alexander). My youngest brother has always called me Ditdi (my name is Ashlee) and my middle one calls me Agees. They were just names that came out and stuck. We all use all of them in the house...but never outside :)

My oldest was the first grandchild. He called my mother Mimi. I know that is not uncommon, but we did not teach him this, he just did it. After that, every child born in our family called my mother Mimi.
