be introduced to solid food ???
If we start out by 1 food every 5 days (as recommended by my ped) there are at least 4 beginner fruits and 4 beginner veggies right?? Now this isnt counting ALL THE CEREALS you need to introduce as well, like rice oatmeal barley etc...
Well if you start introducing them at 6 months how on earth are you suppose to be giving the baby meats, cherrios, and stuff like that by 8 months like what?????

My baby started at 6 months rice cereal, a bit of oatmeal but she hates both with a passion, we tried corn, green beans, squash, bananas, apple sauce...
She is 8 months now and NO WHERE near starting meats yet or any stage 2 like she is suppose to since we arent finished testing the stage 1 yet!!

Am I missing something???

I feel she is way behind ...

I'm honestly looking for a good answer here, I'm not just ranting. I'm normally a breastfeeding mom, and would absolutely make certain I breastfed my baby if born a preemie (my son almost was...). There are so many added benefits of breastmilk that preemies ESPECIALLY need.

I can respect the choices of women who choose to bottlefeed a full term baby. But it honestly hits me hard when a woman won't breastfeed a preemie.

I know NICU's are stressful, and that there are extra hurdles when breastfeeding a preemie. Some women honestly can't, and I'd guess that is a bit more common with preemies than full term babies. But that said, they are hurdles that you can get through- it is most often totally doable. I was talked to by two NICU nurses and a neonatologist, so I'm not just guessing here.

How can mothers choose not to breastfeed their preemies?

Hi,
My son is two months old. He started crying two days ago and did not stop crying until we started him to breastfeed. But, I know, he was fed well before he started crying. We checked his clothes were dry, other conditions were also normal.

However, I have noticed, whenever he is being breastfed, he gets quiet, but as soon as he is taken off, he starts crying again. Condition becomes worse mostly in the evenings making us helpless.

He is about 18 days old today.

Is this normal? Could it be that his eyesight hasnt developed properly yet or could it be a sigh of autism?

Sorry i hope this isnt a daft question but its been worrying me. i have one daughter already but i seem to remember more eye contact with her.

My son is 7 1/2 months old and hates solids. He is so hard to feed. He will shake is head back and forth while blocking with his hands, and his lip are closed tight. And when you get some in there he spits most of it out. He also gags and sometimes throws up. I have tired rice, oatmeal, pears, banana, apples, sweet potato, carrots, peas, green beans, and some table food. Anyone have any advice?

I start to teach my 9 months baby to sign "milk", "mom" and "more" like 2 weeks ago, also I bought flashcards from www.sign2me.com, and some DVDs such as My Baby Can Talk, Baby Einstein, See n' Sign, and many more... Because I was really enthusiastic. But now, when I sign to her, she is just like "Yeah, whatever!" and she does not pay attention. I am about to quit. Can someone give me some tips and tell me about the first month of your own experience? Because everyone says "Consistency is the key" and when you hear the successfully stories of other moms that teach their sons, everything seems pretty easy. Is something wrong with my baby?

PS. I know that my grammar is horrible, English is my second language (-_- ' )! Thanks everyone for taking the time to answer to me...

You know which ones I mean, right? The Gerber ones that are a meat and a vegetable-- things like that.. I started her on plain fruits and veg with cereal at five months....She's starting to seem bored with the variety and is starting to turn on veggies....Should I add the new meals, or maybe go back to strictly veg? Anyone have some advice for interesting menu ideas for this age--either homemade or jarred.??Anyone giving baby real dairy(ie. yougurt or milk) at this age? I know you're not supposed to, but she's had the odd taste of yougurt and loved It!!! Anyone do egg yolks in formula?? It sounds gross......

I picked up my 9 month old baby from his babysitter's house after work as usual. My child has never been sick and ever since I started taking him to his babysitter, he has had an on-going cold, running nose, cough, low grade temp etc. The babysitter has 2 children of her own, one is 12 months and the other is 6. I have taken my son to the Dr. twice in the last 3 weeks. The first visit, the Dr. sai dit was simply a cold and would get back over time. This trip to the Dr., she found an ear infection and prescribed an antibiotic. I picked my son up to find him sleeping in his stroller (which i have told her not to put him in there to sleep) he was sweating because it was too hot in her home and he had a poopy diaper. His cough sounded worse and he was very fussy. I took him straight away to the Dr. My concern is I do not feel comfortable with the babysitter any longer. I showed up early today and this is what I walked into. What would any mother thinkl and what should I do?

My 15 month old has been going to swimming classes since he was 5 1/2 months old. Registration for winter classes start on November 10th and they fill up fast. We are going to be ttc#2 about Christmas time and the Winter swim classes Start January 10th and is once a week for 9 weeks.
Now I didn't get any morning sickness at all while I was pregnant with him but I know that all pregnancies can be different. I'd hate to be pregnant and have morning sickness when he has his swim classes but It's so nice to take him somewhere with other babies and I enjoy playing in the water with him as well.
Should I go ahead and sign up now anyway not knowing if I'll get pregnant by then?

I ask this on behalf of my sister, as I have no children and no in-laws to worry about (thank God!). My sister has been going rounds with her mother-in-law about what is best for my niece. The mother-in-law insists that she knows best since she's had two children, whereas my sister feels that she is doing a fine job herself in parenting (this makes her second child as well); always reading parenting magazines and books, following the suggestions of her daughter's pediatrician, etc. I guess the mother-in-law believes that if her two kids didn't die over "certain things" than my niece won't either.

Now, I don't really know the first thing about child-rearing, but I couldn't imagine that Pepsi and caffeinated/carbonated beverages would be exactly healthy for an infant. My niece is eight months old and my sister's mother-in-law is always trying to give my niece Pepsi and soda in her bottles whenever she stays at her house.

Why is it that doctors & some books will tell you that its okay to give some dairy products to older babies, such as yogurt & cheese..but then say that you have to wait until they turn a year old to give milk?
