I've heard every 3-4 days, not five. Also, she can have stage 2 foods. It's the consistency that make them stage 2--they're thicker. As long as you've already done stage 1 bananas, you can move to stage 2, etc. If they offer mixed varieties (apple blueberry, for example) you can give it to her if she's had apples and blueberries with success. She should also be eating the other foods that you did try with her in addition to new ones. It takes a baby 60 tries of something to establish liking or disliking it. You can mix bananas, etc into her oatmeal/rice cereal.
She doesn't need barley cereal--when's the last time you ate a bowl of barley or used it in your food preparation? She can also have corn, peas, beans, if they're cut small and she's already tried them in the baby food variety. She can mash them in her mouth.
She can have cheerios now. She's big enough. Watch for a wheat allergy, although I've seen kids with cheerios who have had wheat allergies and not reacted to cheerios. If she does the cheerios fine, then she can also have the fruit and veggie puffs by gerber if she's already tried the fruits and veggies that are in them (ex sweet potato, apple, banana, etc). It'll be tough for her to do finger foods and to get them in, but it'll be worth it in the end.

Don't worry. You are not behind. Go slowly. I did. My daughter wasn't near the meats until she was almost a year. She loved the fruits and veggies, and I introduced all of them to her so it took a long time. Try mixing the rice cereal with apples or bananas. She loved it that way. My daughter was on Stage 1 baby-food for a long time. As long as your baby is still growing, has messy diapers, sleeps well, and is happy then you are doing everything right. I was cautious introducing new foods because my husband has such bad allergies so I wanted to make sure she was okay before trying something else. You're doing everything right. Congrats!

You, as her mother, will know what she is ready for and when. And remember, ALL children are different. I know some that have completely skipped some of the steps. And myself, I didnt use babyfood at all for my first one. A blender come in real handy. Its all in how the baby responds to the changes and textures in her mouth. I personally dont think that she is behind. I have two little girls and they both were different with the whens and hows. And just so you know, I follow some advice but I went with my gut. The testing you say you are doing is really meant to figure out any food allergys. Try her on 2 anyway, if you thinks shes ready. Good luck

The doctors just recommend doing one at a time in the beginning so you can see how they are going to do with a different food instead of milk. They also want you to see if they have any allergic reactions to them. Have you tried giving her actual table food instead of jar food. You can take the green beans, corn, bananas and all kinds of stuff and mash it up good enough so it doesn't taste as bad as the stuff in the jar. Try letting her pick it up herself too and putting it in her own mouth, she might take it better that way. GOOD LUCK!

It's nothing to worry about because I started my daughter on baby food when she was 6mths and the first thing I started her on was apple sauce and other fruits and she was about 9mths when I had her on stage 2 baby food. So take your time with her and when it gets to the point that you have to give her more than one stage one jar then that there is a sign that it's time to move on to the stage two.
Good Luck and I hope this helps you.

It's not a contest. Babies seem to love fruits and puddings.
Work in the cereal, veggies, meats, etc as you go. Dont get carried away with specific directives. You will go bonkers, and not accomplish anything, cept maybe a hungry baby, and a very frustrated mom. PLEASE keep in mind, that a happy mom usually leads to a happy baby.

You are stressing yourself out about this, and it's not necessary. It sounds like your baby just isn't interested in table foods yet, and that's fine. As long as she consumes enough breastmilk or formula, it'll be fine. Keep trying purees, eventually she'll get used to them and start to like them. Also, mash fresh bananas for her, the jarred bananas are nasty. If she likes them fresh, try mixing up her cereal with the fresh banana.

You're fine. My first was like this too. She was never interested in food until she was almost a year old.
My second ate anything you put in front of her.
Relax, mama. You're doing fine. You've got lots of years ahead of you to worry about how your child is eating. ;-)
