I just don't get it. Unless a mother is returning to work, then why would you pump your milk, other than the occasional night out or whatever?

It seems that so many moms are pumping and asking questions about "Am I making enough milk?"...

I've never had a problem not knowing that my children are eating X ounces, so why is it so important for others? What am I missing here?

Ive been pumping my milk and feeding it to him by bottle and ive made enough to feed him like that
but yesterday i figure id try and breastfeed again because he was on my chest and moving around like he was looking for my nipple
and all day i have been breastfeeding him
but he still seems hungry and i am giving him a bottle because he wont stop crying and keeps opening his mouth and moving when i put my finger by his mouth. Ive fed him three times in the last hour, it seems like hes not getting full. Why could this be. I have plenty of milk because i pump a lot of milk out. I also pumped twice today so im thinking maybe i dont have enough milk in there afer, but i usually have more after two hours, so i should have had enough to feed him.

My breastfed baby is backed up. She is frantic, now that it's night and the doctor's office closed. That seems to be how it works with young ones, they aren't "sick" until "after-hours". Anyway, of course I know, breastfed babies can go days without a bowel movement. But, what can I do to help her through the pain she's in? And of course, I'll be calling her DR. tomorrow morning when his office is open. Please experienced parents of breastfed babies. Thank you in advance. :)

If your breastfeeding and decide to go out or leave your child with someone while you work part-time. Do you think its ok to give the child formula until you get home to breastfeed, for somereason when pumping you dont get enough out.

How do we know for sure that baby boys don't feel the pain of circumcision? If we're not 100% sure (and only a baby can tell us this), wouldn't it make sense to err on the side of caution and give the baby a local? He wouldn't be drugged down with a general anesthetic, so important to be careful of with babies.

Wouldn't it be better to use a local rather than nothing?

Not trying to be a modest parent, but our infant is barely 3 months old, yet it seems she's trying to crawl as well as a few other things. Before she will start crying due to being hungry, dirty diaper or just wanting attention, she'll start this baby talk...just simple sounds really but she looks us in the eye. If we dont get the point within a few minutes of this, she'll reach if she wants attention, kick her legs if she has a dirty diaper or make vocal noises while munching on her hand if she's hungry. I for sure know when she wants attention because she'll cry, then when i go in there(she seems to be a daddy's girl)...she'll just smile really big and try to tell me what she wants. She started lifting her head on her own just a couple weeks after birth, and started this 'baby talk' at like 6 weeks. The doc says her muscle tone is very good for her age as well. As for her parents, id like to think im quite a curious person, and the mom is very alert. Is she advanced for her age?

A girl I work with got garage sale clothes from her mother-in-law at her baby shower. They weren't washed & still had the little stickers on them. She gave these to her as her gift & that was all. Is this acceptable?

I think it's okay to buy garage sale clothes, but not to give them as a baby shower gift.

My sons pediatrician and I have discussed our decision not to vaccinate and she has agreed to our decision. So everything is clear on her end. The problem is the nurses. Our insurance is with Kaiser Permanente, so I never know what nurse I am going to get as they pretty much are never the same. So each well-baby visit I get the same 20 questions about his vaccine records. So far I have just smiled and nodded my head when they go into what vaccines he needs to get "caught up on". Should I continue to just play along with them just to get them to stop talking about it or should I just tell them the pediatrician and I have discussed it? I really do not know how to deal with them.

My poor Jaden has a really bad cold. This is like is 3rd cold of his life =/ but this one is like the worst he's ever had. With the other 2 colds he's had I would give him infants Tylenol and Motrin, but it just seemed not to work. A family friend told me that giving him those meds isn't too healthy, that I should take a more natural route. She didn't go into detail, cuz she was in a hurry to get back to work. Anyways I was just wondering if anyone out there knows what natural things I can give my 18-month-old to help get better?

-Thanks-

I dont. Simply b/c when i put her in there, I hate to see her head all in that bent uncomfortable position, but I cant seem to shake the feeling that using the base is a bit more safe. I have the base installed, so I place my baby in back of the passenger seat. Is this safe? I always see ppl driving around like that, or is it idea that i place her without the base in the center of the car? or should i just use the base, and add pillows or cushion to keep her head in place???

So many ?'s, which is safest?

My in laws say my 4 month old son is spoiled because he wouldn't stop crying when they watched him the other day. I told them he likes to be sung to, rocked, and have his bum patted and they wouldn't do it because they think babies should fall asleep on their own, and that all their babies didn't need so much coddling. My son hardly ever cries and no one else has ever had issues with him crying uncontrollably like that before, including his aunts who he hardly ever sees, so it's not an issue of him not being used to the people or the new environment.

I don't like the idea of leaving him with my in laws again. They seem like they don't know how to handle a baby, and I think my son is so passive and quiet. But then again, these are his grandparents....they have a right to see him and care for him every once in a while, right? I'm conflicted...help please!
