Well it probably is carpet burn. An infants skin is delicate, yet durable if that makes any sense. Infants tend to abrade their skin quite easily. There are a million lotions and creams for every conceivable rash and scrape. You could try one of them, however, I recommend leaving it alone. All kids, particularly infants have a reflex called "guarding". (Adults do too, but not to this degree.) This is where they will avoid using a limb or letting someone touch an area that is bothering them. I'm sure you've seen the reaction you get if you act like your going to touch a kids scrape. They flip. Infants don't have this to that degree because they haven't gained the necessary experience, but they will avoid things that cause pain. If it really bothered your kid, she would avoid doing it, "guarding" the affected area. My girl had the same problem. We did nothing and the only thing that happened is that her skin on her elbows and knees toughened up a bit and stopped getting red. One of the hardest parts of being a parent is letting your kid learn and experiment without letting them break.
We've tried really hard to not go to far overboard on reacting to every little thing and it's done wonders for our girl. She is incredibly outgoing and energetic.
Another short example of how we let her experiment is this: We have numerous patches of sandburs in our yard. We let her go out barefoot as we do. After about the third time the sandburs got her, on her own she would bring us her sandals to put on before going in the yard. Thing is she HATES shoes. About a week later she stopped asking for the sandals. This confused us until we realized she had learned what the sandburs looked like and avoided them. We were amazed. She was about 12 or 13 months old when this happened.
Anyway, that's my answer and I hope it helps you some. By the way, I'm an Emergency Medical Technician and I can tell you a few things that do warrant an immediate trip to the pediatrician. Those would include any type of contact with any type of poison (feel free to be liberal with poisoning. consider soaps, etc with all the additives in products nowadays), fever, vomiting or loose stools lasting more than a day or two, any type of difficulty breathing, any type of swelling of the face and neck (or rash) after eating, etc. Those are some of the big ones.
So I hope this helps you out at least a little bit. Might save you some worry and expensive trips to the ER or Pediatrician.

If she's just learning she very well might be scuffing herself up. Just let her be, she will figure out a better way of crawling because of the discomfort.
You can help her by keeping long sleeves on her for a couple days, if you really want.

If you have any sort of chemical cleaners you use on your carpet, or if she's sensitive to pet dander or dirt from feet, she might have developed eczema or some other allergic reaction. If you're worried, put long sleeves on her and talk to a nurse at the pediatrician's office.
If she's not complaining, she's probably OK. :)

Always start with a topic ou know the other person is interested in and knows a lot about. This way you start off and the other person to your surprise will take over the conversation.

wow, my son started at 5months and he started walking as soon as he turned 9 months. but every child is different. anyway, you should put some Baby Aquaphor made by Eucerin. It is great on a baby's skin and cures fast any skin problems a baby may get. my son's skin broke out from the heat and i put it on his face everyday now. you see results in just 2 days.

It's quiet possible if she dragged herself across the floor. If it doesn't seem to be bothering her, don't worry about it. If it hurts her, keep her off of it as much as you can, and moisturize it.
