No, I honestly don't think it's okay. Learn the risks of formula use. It's worth it to pump. Learn how at http://www.kellymom.com

Trust your body to make enough- it can and will, if you don't supplement, that is. Pumping does not indicate how much milk you make. Kellymom can explain that.

My daughter was breastfed for a year, and was never, ever, given formula. Akkk.

Yes it is ok. But I would still give the baby formula and breastfeed when home because the baby may not be getting enough if you are not being able to pump much. Good Luck!

Yes.

With my first baby I was so against formula because I knew breast milk was best so why feed something that wasn't. With my second baby I didn't have time to pump enough so I would mix breast milk with formula (1/4 formula at first, then half and half). My baby seemed just as happy. I eventually went to straight formula before switching to milk at one year. I would however suggest mixing it in at first so the baby can acquire a taste for the formula. If you don't you risk the baby rejecting the formula AND possibly rejecting bottles as a whole because they could associate bottles with something they really don't want. Ease into it is my suggestion:-)

There is already so much mommy guilt and pressure...do whatever takes to release some pressure off you. The decision to mix formula in could certainly do that for you.

if you can't really get that milk out, you could (not that formula is poison), but maybe you could try a hospital grade breastpump? Pump after every feeding, pump at night, pump every time you get a chance. The more you pump, the more milk you will get. Your milk supply is probably gonna be affected if you supplement.

I think it's fine. Even a little breastmilk is better than none, and whatever you would be able to pump would be beneficial.

Ask your ped for a formula recommendation - some are easier for breastfed babies to adapt to and digest.

Don't let people scare you or make you feel bad for using some formula. It's not poison. And you do what you gotta do.

I think its ok some women can't pump a large enough quantity to solely breastfeed when they work. Like with my first born I just couldn't sem to pump enough so we did supplement.

It is absolutely fine. I had to supplement with my second because I just wasn't producing enough and it was fine. I had the full support of the breastfeeding group that I belonged to and of my pediatrician.

You do exactly what you feel necessary for your baby and you.

Don't let anyone make you feel guilty about your decision.

Yes. More women than you realise supplement feed their babies, they are just to embarrassed or proud to admit it. And there are many reasons why you may not be producing enough milk. When I had my son I couldn't produce enough milk and it was weeks before the doctor's were able to tell me that it was because I was anemic. When you are anemic you never produce enough milk, so it may be something to chat to your doctor about. If you decide to supplement feed, it is important to remember to also try to express at the same time, as the more milk you use, the more you produce. If you don't express, your milk won't produce any more than you already have because it thinks you have enough.
