How many of you that are breastfeeding or have breastfed your child for more than one year gave them whole milk? I breast fed my middle daughter until she was 2 and never gave her whole milk, the doctor said it was fine. I'm still breastfeeding my 18 month old and have not given her whole milk. One pediatrician said it's ok because breastmilk is half fat, and today another one said to start. I dont restrict her nursing so she probably nurses more than the average 18 month old, and she does eat solid food. We drink 2% milk, and that's what I give her. I plan on nursing her until she's 2 at least, do I really need to give her whole mik? What did you moms do?

My son was born early and had a lot of health problems so I couldn't have him circumcised when he was first born nor could I have it done a few months after again because of health reasons. He is now in the clear to have it done but will have to have it done at the hospital because after three months (he is almost 4 now) it's actually considered a surgery. Since we have to do it this way he can't even get in till some time in Nov. or Dec. which means he will be 5 or 6 months by then. So should I even have it done seeing that he would be so old. I'm scared for h im going through pain because I know the older they get the more it hurts and also the complications that could come up........

Isn't it embarrasing to be soliciting gifts from friends, coworkers and family members?
I mean, I have seen couples gainfully employed who have more than two baby showers, isn't it greedy to want others to pay for your child's "things", instead of just going out and buying what your child needs

what should we be feeding her? shes been on 2nd foods for a while. she eats saltines sometimes but gets chunks a lil bit to big for her at times. i always get the hang of it and then it seems like its time to change it up. i kow she needs to learn to start swallowing bigger stuff and feeding herself. just some advice/ideas would be great.

The daycare told me that for the past week my 3 month old has been crying all day. Before she was a happy baby and didnt mind being at daycare and only cried when she needs something. So my question is, is it possible for a 3 month old to have separation anxiety?

OK my son nearly 3 months) has periods where he doesn't actively nurse but when I try to give him a soother he only chews on it and spits it out. I don't really want him to need or want a soother all the time, but I can't take being a live soother all the time. I have tried dipping the soother in gripe water that doesn't really work. I have tried all different kinds of soothers as well. If there is anyone who has had this problem or know any ideas to help him to not use me a a soother that would be great. Thanks! I didn't have this problem with my older son, but then I don't remember how old he was when he started to take a soother, and he didn't need it all the time either. He also wasn't using me a soother like my younger son is.

I'm having the hardest time trying to decide what kind of breastpump to buy. I'm not going back to work or anything, so I shouldn't need to pump too often. I would just like to be able to pump enough so that Daddy can feed him too, and maybe store a little to take when we go out and about, so I won't have to breastfeed in public (not that there's anything wrong with that, I just don't see myself being comfortable doing it unless I had no other choice).
Does anyone have any suggestions for a good pump for me to get for this situation? I thought maybe the Medela Swing pump might be ok? If anyone has used that I'd love to hear what you think of it.
Thanks!

She will take one or two sips of juice from a sippy cup. She will not take formula from one. She acts like she's not hungry (have even tried it first thing in the morning after her sleeping all night). I put it in a bottle and she guzzles is right down? At what age should they be more willing? When do I worry about her being attached to a bottle? She only gets bottles at meal times. I've never put her to bed with one nor does she drink on one throughout the day.

My little one is pretty chubby... and I have a feeling she will meet the weight requirement for front facing before she is 1 year old, and since she has to stay rear facing until BOTH requirements are met... can someone suggest a good rear facing car seat that has a high weight limit or a good convertible? I am looking for something girly. Thanks in advance!

I found out afterward that you aren't supposed to breastfeed for 48 hours after if you've had the dye. I didn't know this, and no one informed me of it. My 4 month old is exclusively breastfed. What harm could this dye cause him?

My 6 month old son is now wearing cloths for an 18 month old. He isn't fat just really tall for his age (2'7"). Who comes up with the sizes that babies wear? Is he just huge or something? I mean he was wearing 6-9 month cloths at 2 months old. Is this normal?

My Mother in Law is amazing and I love her so much. The problem is, I wanted to have a baby shower before the baby was born (back in August) and she is now wanting to have one for me after the baby is born so people can see the baby. I am very, very worried about this because I don't want anyone touching the baby due to they might have had a cold or the flu recently (since it is cold season), most of my family are smokers, and I just flat out don't want this little guy to get sick from anyone bc I'd feel horrible. Am I over-paranoid for thinking this way? I feel as though I'm being selfish. I'd love a baby shower, but I don't know. I was thinking that I could pick up hand sanitizer and have everyone that comes over use it? Is that silly of me to think like that?

My girl is 6mos,started off with rice cereal, banana & carrots & got v.constipated for 3days with painful BM. So I stopped all that & started with oatmeal cereal, prunes & homemade applesauce & 1oz of diluted apple-prune juice. I gave her a little rice cereal again 2 days back & it's happening again. She grunts and passes gas but is not able to poop.
I have tried sitting her in warm water as my nurse suggested.
What do I do? Is it ok not to give rice cereal at all? Will she miss out on any nutrients?
How is she going to have solids if she gets constipated for every other food? !!
Pls dont suggest castor oil!!

My six month old has an absolute fit when put down in his playpen or highchair. He cries (differently) out of anger as if trying to tell me "I SAID PICK ME UP!". He does not get tired of crying and honestly, I think he's to little for discipline. I know he understands when he's done something wrong, cause I say "no" in a firm (not yelling) voice. He starts crying.
I am blessed to be able to care for him at home as long as need be, so he may have a little bit of seperation anxiety. I think he is very smart and wants to do more than his physical body can handle yet. He does not want to sit - EVER. He wants to stand. Most of the time he spends in the jumper. He loves it. I need him to learn to be in the playpen though so that when my family cares for him in their home he can play happily in there. Also, I've taken the playpen outside and he loves it. He's an outdoors kinda fella! :) . I think he just has a strong temper and is very determined. Any advice? Thx to all!
