My six month old has an absolute fit when put down in his playpen or highchair. He cries (differently) out of anger as if trying to tell me "I SAID PICK ME UP!". He does not get tired of crying and honestly, I think he's to little for discipline. I know he understands when he's done something wrong, cause I say "no" in a firm (not yelling) voice. He starts crying.
I am blessed to be able to care for him at home as long as need be, so he may have a little bit of seperation anxiety. I think he is very smart and wants to do more than his physical body can handle yet. He does not want to sit - EVER. He wants to stand. Most of the time he spends in the jumper. He loves it. I need him to learn to be in the playpen though so that when my family cares for him in their home he can play happily in there. Also, I've taken the playpen outside and he loves it. He's an outdoors kinda fella! :) . I think he just has a strong temper and is very determined. Any advice? Thx to all!

these are some of the times you just need to let him cry and walk away. AS SOON as he stops then you give him something that he really loves, whether it's his favorite food, talking super funny to him, kisses, etc. Worked for my son in that stage within 2 weeks! GOOD LUCK and trust me I know that it breaks your heart when you hear your baby cry but it's better for BOTH of you in the long run!

ABSOLUTELY AS YOU SAY YOUR SELF HE IS STRONG WILLED AND HAS TANTRUMS SO IF HE IS THAT SMART TO THROUGH A WOBBLER THAT'S A HISSY FIT IN UK TALK JUST PUT HIM IN THERE AND WALK AWAY FOR 1/2 MIN'S IGNORING THE CRYING (ITS VERY HARD BUT NEEDS TO BE DONE) WHEN YOU COME BACK IN THE ROOM ACT AS IF HE IS THE BEST BOY EVER EVEN THOUGH YOU PROBABLY WANT TO THROUGH HIM OUT OF THE WINDOW AND TALK TO HIM WITH A GREAT BIG CHEESY GRIN SAYING HOW WONDERFUL HE IS HE WILL GET THE MESSAGE CUDDLES AND KISSES AND LOTS OF TICKLES AND FUN EQUATE TO BEING IN THE PLAYPEN GOOD LUCK YOU WILL NEED IT REMEMBER SMILE THROUGH GRITTED TEETH

My baby was like that too, his doctor actually told my husband and I that we were holding him way to much and that we needed to let him cry and learn how to soothe himself. It was a nightmare at first, naturally when your baby cries you want to rush to them and pick them up and make them feel better but eventually he learned that we weren't going to come running everytime he made a sound. Now he finds ways to keep himself content, even if it is something little like making noises or playing peek a boo with a blanket (he is nine months now), like I said it will be hard at first but it is something that he is going to have to learn it is just really important that you stick with it.

the more you hold him the more he will want to be held. not that you shouldn't hold him at all but you should start scheduling times for him to be in his playpen or somewhere out of your arms. just leave him in there. go do something for five minutes and come back, if he's still crying just talk to him and then go do something else come back in another 5 minutes. that way he'll know you're not "leaving" him. babies cry for attention because they know that they'll get it. but punishment isn't the answer, you don't want to punish your child for wanting to be near you, he just needs to know that you aren't his every waking moment. you may need to get some ear plugs to deal with the severity of his cries but he'll learn that you can't carry him in your arms 24 hours a day.
the same thing happened with me and my crib when i was a baby. so one night my mom just left me in there and she said i cried until dawn (i was almost a year old) and when the sun came up i went to sleep and from then on when they put me in my crib i just layed down and went to sleep.
