It's not irregular. Teeth grow how they grow. Just let 'em do their thing.

A small gap is normal and it usually closes as other teeth appear. Larger gaps also disappear spontaneously. However, there are cases where the gap persists even when the permanent teeth come in, as in David Letterman. If the parent or patient prefers, it can be fixed with dental surgery. Ordinarily, one waits to perform surgery until the permanent front teeth have fully erupted.

My sons teeth had a slight space between them but when all the other teeth started coming in the gap pretty much closed.

As the teeth all come in the others will shift into the correct places. If you are still worried call the child's dentist.
