My first child is soon due and I understand the benefits of breastmilk. I would like to breastfeed by pumping the milk and bottlefeeding the baby. Are there any disadvantages to this? Please don't respond about the mother-baby bonding, because faciltating the father-baby bonding is part of my reason for wanting to do it this way.

I have sort of decided not to go too crazy with the diapers, because he may grow out of them too fast... and I already have lots of wipes. Any other suggestions?

I am just reading some questions that have been asked today to kill time and was reading one about making bottles and some people gave some of the craziest answers!! One person said "well I use 7 ounces of water for 3 scoops of formula because my baby doesn't like water alone." WHAT?? when prepared it IS WATER with added nutrients! No need to supplement. One other person said "I put in 3 scoops of formula and then add water until its up to 6 ounces" AHHH!! WRONG WRONG!!! 3 scoops of formula is meant to be mixed with 6 ounces of water not 5 or however much it would be after the formula takes up room. I know I am loosing 5 points here, but i'm bored and this bothers me.... are these people getting these tips from docs or taking it into their own hands? Are these doctors real?

I've been having a very hard time with my 1 month old son....he wants to eat so badly but can't seem to take it because of the reflux (which is what my dr. said he had today at his appt.) He cries in pain but still really wants to eat. She perscribed Axid and told me to call her Friday to see if it is working. I've been reading some past questions that are similar to mine, and it seems as if this didn't help many babies, but that Prevacid did. Does anyone have any experience/suggestions? It would be much appreciated!!!

my cousin is 25, married and has a 11 month old baby girl. She stopped by my place yesterday to drop off some baby clothes for a friend of mine having a little girl in a few months. Anyway, one of my issues with her at the moment is that she bought a new carseat for her daughter in the last few months. Yesterday when she stopped by I noticed that her daughter was facing forward in her carseat. Illegal #1. Here babies must face the rear until 12 months of age even if the infant carseat is outgrown before that age. The other problem is that not only was she facing forward in the carseat she had her in a carseat that is too old for her, it was a toddler to booster carseat. My soon to be 3 year old will just be going into one of these by Christmas this year. Her daughter is about 19 Lbs now and she feels that the baby is getting too big for the infant carseat. I have never seen an infant carseat with a weight limit of less than 20 Lbs, sometimes even 22 Lbs or so.

I have to go back to work within two weeks of my baby being born. This is my 2nd pregnancy. After my first baby, I suffered from postpartum depression. With this pregnancy, I have suffered depression through most of the pregnancy, and am very nervous about returning to work so soon, with the possibility of postpartum depression being high. I cannot quit my job, and I work for a small company that does not fall under any FMLA guidelines. My state (Texas) does not have any laws protecting my job while I take maternity leave, which is why I am coming back so soon. I will return part time at first (I currently work full time). Does anyone have any tips for dealing with stress/depression/exhaustion in this situation? Has anyone been in a similar situation, or had to return to work in less than a month? Any encouragement is greatly appreciated!!

I read 20 pounds is acceptable to put your child into one. But, my daughter weighed 20 lbs at 6 1/2 months and then I read that you should just wait until they're a year old. My daughter hates not facing us but im confused . any help appreciated. thanks

I have been only breastfeeding since birth and my mom thinks I might be double feeding her? I usually feed her when she wakes up and also when she goes to bed.

I have recently been introducing rice cereal to my 4.5 month old. We started with small amounts very thin at first but lately I have been putting 2 ounces of formula in a bowl and mixing in cereal until slighly thickened and then she gets the other 3 ounces of formula in a bottle. I am going to do this once a day and was thinking when she turns 5 months start 2 times per day. Is this right. What did you do? Im so confused about abby feeding... I wish she could tell me what she wants!! :)

Cot, bouncer, pushchair, sling, car seat, sit-in toys, pushchair, highchair, etc

It's becoming apparent that I don't have many places to 'put' my ten month old. She spends her whole day either in the sling or on the floor, or in her highchair to eat.

Where do your babies spend their time and how does it divide up? My daughter spends about 4-5 hours an average day in the sling, 3-4 on the floor, a couple of hours in the high chair and the rest in her cot asleep.

Anyone have the same situation? Where do you 'put' your babies?

Okay, so, I had my wonderful son 2 months and a week ago. I still have yet to have my actual period. I've had cramps, and a light brown discharge this WHOLE time, but no actual "period".

Think I should take a test to see if I am pregnant, or do you think this is just normal and it'll come? (I really don't feel like spending the money to buy one unless people think it's a good idea, if you've had a baby you know babies are expensive! haha)

Let me know your thoughts.

I'm not breastfeeding, so that doesn't have anything to do with it. Thanks so much!

I had my daughter 8 months ago and since then I've had zero sex drive. I'm driving my hubby crazy because he wants it and I'm just not in the mood. I would think this might be normal right after childbirth with still being sore and all, but 8 months later?? We might have sex maybe 1 or twice a month now and I only do it because I feel bad for my hubby. Anyone else experiencing anything like this?
