I've been having a very hard time with my 1 month old son....he wants to eat so badly but can't seem to take it because of the reflux (which is what my dr. said he had today at his appt.) He cries in pain but still really wants to eat. She perscribed Axid and told me to call her Friday to see if it is working. I've been reading some past questions that are similar to mine, and it seems as if this didn't help many babies, but that Prevacid did. Does anyone have any experience/suggestions? It would be much appreciated!!!

My daughter never had reflux but my neighbor's daughter does and her baby takes Prevacid. Hope this helps!

2 of my friends do axid and it helps them both tremendously. Mine is on pepcid and does good too. Doctors just have favorites that they like to prescribe. Burping or holding upright for 30 minutes after feeding helps. Feed less, more frequently. If breastfeeding, you can do one side at each feeding so that towards the end he isn't getting much milk and more time to suck - if he is a fast eater or your milk comes too fast they don't get enough sucking time! You could see if he'll take a pacifier and see if he just wants to suck. Hope this helps!

My son had this problem, and it actually caused him to stop breathing once (for about 45 seconds). Not sure about Prevacid, but we got a Pepcid AC prescription. Worked pretty well.

My 8 yr old daughter was born at 28 weeks and she too had this acid reflux problem. I don't recall the name of the meds but it was pink and it worked wonders!
