I'm having the hardest time trying to decide what kind of breastpump to buy. I'm not going back to work or anything, so I shouldn't need to pump too often. I would just like to be able to pump enough so that Daddy can feed him too, and maybe store a little to take when we go out and about, so I won't have to breastfeed in public (not that there's anything wrong with that, I just don't see myself being comfortable doing it unless I had no other choice).
Does anyone have any suggestions for a good pump for me to get for this situation? I thought maybe the Medela Swing pump might be ok? If anyone has used that I'd love to hear what you think of it.
Thanks!

I've never used the Medela Swing pump but I bought the Avent Isis Breastpump which I absolutely love! I'd recommend it to anyone. It's a manual, but they also make an electric.
As for breastfeeding in public, maybe check out and see if your local mall has a breastfeeding room. My mall does and it's great to know that there's an area where I can go and breastfeed privately and comfortably or even give the baby a bottle!

I got the Lansinoh Double Electric pump. I can pump both sides in 10-15 minutes total. I chose this because of reviews I read on Target.com. The reviewers there said that it compares to the Medela Pump in Style and it's half the price ($150). My son is only 2 months old, so I haven't had as much experience with it as other moms, but I really like it. The only problem is that it doesn't come with a carrying case, but I use the diaper bag I got from the hospital.

I love my Ameda Purely Yours. It is a double electric, but it's less money than the Medelas. It was about $180.00 I recommend it because it's got a closed system and is easy and effective to use. You can consider the pump like an investment piece, basically, a pump is about the same amount as a month's worth of formula. You will use the pump with multiple babies as well, so you might as well get quality. A quality pump will more effectively remove the milk as well as be quicker and easier to use.

I use the Lansinoh double electric pump also and it works great. I am a stay at home mom, so I don't have to pump that often except for if I'm gonna be away from the baby for more than 2 hours. It works so fast. I can pump out 6 ounces in about 15 minutes. It is really easy to use and simple to put together and clean.

i have the medela swing. i liked it. i bring it to work with me and it's really small and lightweight. i think it being a single pump is the only downside. when i first started pumping, i'd pump for around 30 min on each side... so it would take me an hour! my next time around, i plan on getting the other medela with the double pump. but, if you have time at home and don't mind pumping for twice as long, the swing was perfectly fine.

here's a tip: haha... i cut out a tiny hole in the nipple parts of an old bra and slipped the breast shield in between so that it was hands-free. that, and it's ability to operate on batteries made it so that i could walk around the house to do light chores or wash the dishes.

If you aren't going to be pumping that often then I would recommend Medela Swing. It costs a little more then others but it is so worth it. I tried other ones and this is the only one that gets more milk out in shorter amount of time. At least that's how it was in my case.

I pumped full time so I bought a more expensive and elaborate pump then you'll need, but I would always reccommend the Medela brand pumps. They are excellent!

Medela makes a great breastpump. i could first hire the Symphony (the wellness center grade one). maximum hospitals supply you the choice to hire.. you additionally can hire them at little ones R Us. The suction on them is great, and that i chanced on it useful to help me get into the groove of BFing. additionally, if for some reason you may no longer breast feed, then you definately have not made a three hundred greenback investment.

do some research online. there are sites that have reviews from mothers so you'll know what kind of product you are getting. usually the more expensive ones are higher in quality (like the ones that are $200 are far better reviewed than the ones that are $79 so it seems worth it to spend a little extra money)
