My fiance and I had a baby boy in April of 06. He was a healthy baby, only had a couple colds, went to his regular check-ups, and was so smart and happy. We woke him up one morning in September, fed him his bottle and layed him back down to sleep(he was still sleepy). I went back to bed(in the same room), and my fiance went downstairs to watch tv. 20 or 30 minutes later he went over to check on him, and he started screaming that something was wrong, he wouldn't wake up, so we got him out, started CPR and called 911. He was still warm, and they kept trying to get a heartbeat, but it didn't work,he ended up passing away in the hospital. Just being through something like that is unbelievable. But on top of that, the police were doing an investigation. After an autopsy they found cracked ribs, and ended up ruling it undetermined. My question is how can a baby have cracked ribs and we not know it? Why didn't any doctors catch it? And how do you live with not knowing what caused him to pass?

My daughter is about to be 7 months old... and has seperation anxiety. And shes smart about it!! I have been having to sneak out of the room... when she realizes I'm gone she will crawl to find me... yes i said it... CRAWLS TO FIND ME!! And if shes too tired for that she'll lay down and start pouting and if that doesnt work she'll start crying "ma ma ma ma ma ma". Her first teeth started breaking a week ago so i felt really bad for her and ran to her and held her everywhere... now its getting old. I have tried to keep her occupied by giving her her fave toys and even the remote when no one is watching tv. I am a SAHM the only other person she really clings to is my mother in law because my husband works a lot... but i cant ask her to always take her for a little bit because shes sick a lot and tired from dialysis. I'm stuck at home because my husband has the car and my daughter is driving me nuts... is there anything i can do? or is this just a phase i have to deal with

I'm not trying to get anybody angry. I'm just wondering because there's this cultural/religious thing that seems to be a sensitive issue. All I see it as is removing a part of the bodyand medically unnecessary. But, in our industrialized nation, we see boy's circumcision as fine and a choice but girl's circumcision as horrible abuse. Why is cutting off a part of a penis not horrible abuse, too?

My hubby has a good cushy job, he's a CPA and basically sets his own hours. I handle all baby related things, cooking and wash. Hubby's in his 40's, was an only child and never handled a baby before. He's very hesitant to handle our son. He'll give the baby a bottle, but with the first sign of fussiness, my son's back in his swing and hubby's running downstairs to do something. I will add that hubby does help with cleaning the house.

I've accepted that my hubby isn't going to be much help to me these first several months with my son. My hubby will be great down the road when baby will be able to play and hold his head up.

I just need to know how I can stay in a pleasant mood while dealing with hubby because I know he doesn't think what I'm doing is tough. I feel as if he doesn't respect me because I'm at home with baby. I guess this is the age-old question. What can I do?

Thanks!

I watched my friends 6 week old baby yesterday
and if i put her down even for a moment
she would cry, at first i just thought she was fussing, but she would actually start turning red until i picked her and cuddled with her.

She was no hungry and she did not need a change because i did that throughout watching her, but she was just crabby and did not want to be put down at all, i have a baby on the way so i had lots of baby stuff, like swings, and stuff.

My friend even admits to spoiling her and holding her all the time, but i couldnt get anything done or even eat a taco.

Are all babies like that? Is my baby going to be so damanding that ill never be able to get anything done, because someone will always have to be holding him.

I do not want to spoil my child like that, i know he will be my first and ill want to hold him all the time, but i dont want him to never be able to sit alone without crying or fussing.

Any tips or ideas?

I konw the 'guideline' is 6 months but did anyone actually wait that long? It seems a bit late to me, my first was 4 and a half months when she seemed to want to start (i.e trying to put her hands in my dinner, waking and feeding more frequently).
When did you start solids and why?

My son is turning 10 months old and I try to put him in his walker and turn cartoons on and put him near the T.V. but he will not watch them. He won't hardly play with his toys. He wants us to hold him and play with him every minute each day. It's exhausting. What can I do to get him to do other things?

Any ideas on how to clean my 11 month old's blanket/lovey that she sucks on? It stinks so bad, I don't know if that's mildew or what! But it grosses me out that she's sucking on it. I'm afraid to soak it in bleach then wash it because it might still have harmful chemicals in it. My other option is to spend $50 on a used one on ebay!

I've unfortunately just taken smoking back up after quiting for 11 months, yes i know im stupid but i was so stressed out with some problems and 1 smoke led to another.

How long did it take your baby to develop to sitting up unsupported once he/she could sit up supported?

By sitting up supported I mean just some cushions etc round the legs to prevent toppling, but sitting upright without the back supported at all.

Thanks

I have an 11 month old baby and I don't want him to have an sleep over with my inlaws because I'm kind'a worry that they might not understand his needs because his too young, and I'm missing him cause it's my first time to be away from him. i can't even go with him because of some reason. So i let him go there 'cause i don't want them to think that I'm being selfish although it's really hard for me. He'll be gone for three days...

I had my daugher on Similac which was great....but because of me having W.I.C. they recently changed the formula to Enfamil. Since the change about 2 weeks ago she has had so much gas and spit up a lot....so I tried the Enfamil Gentlease....this seemed to help a little but it seems to fill her up less. Im just curious if anyone has these problems with this formula because I am considering just going back to Similac and getting rid of W.I.C.

I am having difficulty preventing my son from spraying urine out of his diaper. It gets all over his clothes and the carpets. I know the nurse tell parents to point his penis down before fastening the diaper so that the urine doesn't comes out but I am unable to do that with my boy. His penis is only about the size of my finger nail so it will not point in a direction. It's pretty much just upright. I use Pampers Swaddlers. Anyone have any other methods to prevent urine this problem? Thanks.

I am dissapoined in white cloud and to a smaller extent, huggies. I know there are more (pampers, luvs), which kind do you find the best for preventing leaks of urine and poo? Yes, i do change his diaper at every feeding (7-9 times a day) and still have leaks--and i point it south too. The only solution seems to be a different brand
