I am formula feeding now. I was breast feeding, but switched and this is when the trouble started. I am using Good Start formula.

Sometimes formula can cause constipation. If he is breast fed, call his doctor about giving him a little water or apple juice. If he is formula fed, it is ok to give him an ounce of apple juice or water every few hours until the constipation clears up.

You should be consulting with your pediatrician not us ! Call the doctor, now do it.! If for some reason you don't have a doctor for the infant then you can try bathing your baby in warm water for about thirty minutes this should help to loosen up the stool and make it move easier. Just call a doctor any doctor will do as long as its a pediatrician. Take the baby to the Emergency Room if you can't get a doctor. If you don't have a ride to the E.R. call an ambulance.

Have you ever heard of potty mouth. It is not pleasent it hurts like hell and your breathe smells like ---- you get the picture. It can also be fatal.

Good Luck, little baby

My son had this problem also, sometimes it was so bad that there would be blood in his stool. He was on Similac with Iron and the doctor had us change to soy formula and also put dark Karo syrup in his formula (you need to call the doctor to find out how much), it took a couple of days but he started have bowel movements regularly, he went from a baby who literally cried all the time to being a great baby. I would suggest that. Good luck.

Sounds like he's being fed the wrong formula. It doesn't sound like he's breastfeeding. Try to switch formula brands. Do you have WIC where you are? They can reccomend a different formula for him. It is not normal for a 3 week old baby to have hard stool at all. Their little systems are not ready for that yet. Please look into changing his formula, if you can you should call your doctor too.

My nephew was constipated when he was a baby from the wrong formula. We were told to switch it immediatly and to sooth him gently move his little legs up towards his tummy. That was supposed to help him poop.

Good luck.

Is he formula fed or breastfed?
Sometimes a change in diet(yours if breastfeeding) or a different formula does the trick.
I suggest calling you physician and asking what they recommend.
Usually they will say to mix in prune juice with the formula, switch it all together, or offer water. However, call, because any can cause problems.
Good luck and hope he gets better!

My son in basic terms had a million bowel flow an afternoon for an quite long term, until he began solids certainly. He replaced into breastfed and formula fed. I had to take him off the everyday formula and supply him Enfamil lipil because of the fact he looked as though it could have a difficulty with milk. I even have long gone as long as 4 days to await a bowel flow contained in the beginning up. you do no longer must be annoying if that is in basic terms been a million day. His physique continues to be attempting to alter itself. it is going to take a minimum of three months for his digestive gadget to mature. while he hasn't pooped in 3 or 4 days then you certainly can try those issues. a million day isn't any enormous deal. i in my opinion understand people who in basic terms bypass as quickly as each week! His gadget should not be the comparable as yours. If he continues to be having problem in a protracted time ensure you do no longer supply him rice cereal. which will particularly constipate him. reliable success. Btw: do no longer EVER supply a baby under one 300 and sixty 5 days honey. it ought to contain botulism.

Yep, it happens when you switch to formula.
Keep a bottle of dark Karo syrup on hand and put 1 tablespoon for every 4 ounces in his bottle, shake it up good. It helps wonders!

You can also dry a couple of ounces of prune juice a day. My daughter didn't like the taste, so the Karo syrup is what we used.

My daughter had AWFUL constipation to the point where she would bleed becuase her stool would tear her skin. So I was advised by my pediatrician to give her prunes for one. they sell prunes in little pureed jars, give him one teaspoon in the morning and another at night. But the most convenient thing I found was when my daughter was constipated I would give her a warm bath, again advised my pediatrician. It would relax her and her next stool would come out perfectly. There is no cure but there are things you can do to help the little ones get more comfortable.

Sometimes it takes babies a good 5-7 days to regulate their BM's when you change form breastfeeding to formula or change formulas.

You can try to ease the discomfort by giving them a glycerine suppository for babies or if it is really bad, we have used glycering enemas for babies.

When in doubt call your physician for more information.
