I have a wonderful teether that is mesh so you can put frozen fruit or ice in it for the baby, problem is that it's made in China and I'm afraid of poisoning my son. Would you use it or toss it?

I just found out "children are not invited, this is an adult shower."
Am I over reacting??? This lady is a family member and all my other female family members will be there so they can't babysit... (my husband isn't available.) How can you have so much family in a room and not have the kids?
I just don't understand what she has planned that would makes this an adult only party. Even if it is "age appropriate" material, by 11 month old surely isn't going to have any idea what is going on.

It is known fact that exclusive breastfeeding is the best for the baby. I guess I didn't realize that in the very beginning and let nurses in hospital feed my baby a formula. I would estimate that my baby was given a total of 6oz of formula first week.
After that he was exclusively breastfed and is still being breastfed at 5 months of age.
My question is how harmful that formula might have been to my baby? My husband's family has severe cases of astma and allergies, I found out late that exclusive breasfeeding may prevent my baby from it. What are the chances of him developing allergies now? is the fact he is breastfed now worthless beause of that formula in hospital?

Or did you have to get a seperate monitor for sound?

When my son is asleep (only at night) he makes squawking sounds and grunting sounds and sometimes a loud sound like he's gasping for air (but he's not gasping because he never stops breathing)
are all these sounds normal? it isn't crying .. it's just loud noises.
(he always looks peaceful when he's making the noises .. he doesn't seem to be in any distress)
and it doesn't happen during the day when he takes naps .. only when he's sleeping at night.
(this has been going on since he was 2 weeks old)

My friend's daughter was just born last month. He is in the army national guard and he is leaving next week for pre-deployment training. He will be gone for 7 months. When he comes back his daughter will be 8 1/2 months old. Will she recognize him or is he going to have to start all over and create a new bond with her?

We recently moved into a condo on the second floor. The balcony has rails that are wide and unsafe for our 7 month old who is learning to crawl. We would never let him out by himself but, we still want it to be safe. Someone suggested getting chicken fence and putting it up w/ twist ties... Any other suggestions? Whats safe that he won't be able to crawl up onto or pull down or even bite on and hurt himself?

My daughter is 2 weeks old and only weighed around 6lbs at birth. Afterwards she went down to 5 lbs 13 oz and we had to get her bundled up all the time. When the nurse came to our house and checked on her she was wearing a sleeper, a hat, and two receiving blankets and her temp was still only 96.7. The nurse told us to wrap her in another heavier blanket and put socks on her. Now over a week and a pound of weight later I think she is too hot. She has been really fussy lately. Now she is in just a diaper and two blankets and is sleeping fine. I took her temperature and it was 98.3. Can babies regulate their temps at only two weeks? Or is she just big enough now that she doesnt need all the extra layers? Could this be why shes so fussy?

....some of the foods are making them constipated. What kind of foods are you giving your 10-11 month old? Are you giving juices & water too? Are your kids having a difficult time? Can you give me some suggestions on foods to give them. I feel bad that their little tummies hurt and that they are having such a hard time.... Thanks

My daughter (who I've been nursing exclusively) is 6 1/2 months old & her pediatrician said to start her on solids because she all of a sudden has been waking up in the middle of the night. So I've been nursing her between 5-6am, then 830 or so, then 1130-12. Then I give her rice cereal or oatmeal with breastmilk at 230 or 3pm, and again at approx. 630 or 7pm right before bed. Then I do a "dream feed" where I nurse her in her sleep at around 9pm before I go to bed. She seems to be doing better on this routine, but does it sound like I'm overfeeding her? It's hard to know how much to give her.
Then, because I don't nurse in the afternoons, I pump, but I still wake up in the middle of the night with pain from engorged breasts! It's so uncomfortable that it wakes me up! Any suggestions?

My baby is almost 4 months and seems to eat pretty often 90ml every 2 hours. I was thinking to start giving her a baby cereal, since she is waking up every 2 hours at night too. Any advice?

My little girl is 6 months old and I'm having trouble getting her on a good sleep schedule - any suggestions? I'd like to find something that works with her natural sleep "patterns" but also is predictable enough that I can plan my day around it.

So far these are her sleep "patterns" that I've observed: She will sleep for an average of 12 total hrs during a 24 hr period. Her night sleep will be 9-11 hours (with one waking for a quick bottle) and her day naps will be 1-3 hours. When she takes short naps during the day (2 naps of 30-45 min each) she will sleep longer at night (10-11 hours). If she takes longer naps during the day (2 naps of 1-1.5 hr each) she will sleep shorter at night (9-10 hrs). She will only take 2 naps per day (one morning, one afternoon) - if I try for a 3rd nap she will fight it unless we're in the car.

How should I arrange our daily schedule? Should I use set clock times for naps/bedtime? Or should I go by how many hours of awake time between sleeps?

My son is a month old and I am breast-feeding. For Thanksgiving my father, sister, husband, son, and myself are flying to Pittsburgh, Pa from Houston, Texas. That’s a 3-hour flight. My son will only be 3 and half months old. I am so nervous he will cry the WHOLE flight. I heard your supposed to breast feed on take off's and landings but does that really work? Anyone been in a similar situation and know what to do?

I am a new mommy so if anyone has any advice its aprecated.

I was just wondering. Last night was our fist night home out of the hospital. I belive my milk is starting to come in. Last night my baby woke every hour to eat and nursed at least 15 minutes sometimes more and went back to sleep. Is this normal, every hour? practicly like clock work?

Thank You in advance.
