I can't believe people are telling you to wean, what fools.

Yes, lots of moms have had this problem before:

* Breastfeed from the uninjured (or less injured) side first. Baby will tend to nurse more gently on the second side offered.
* The initial latch-on tends to hurt the worst - a brief application of ice right before latching can help to numb the area.
* Experiment with different breastfeeding positions to determine which is most comfortable.
* If breastfeeding is too painful, it is very important to express milk from the injured side to reduce the risk of mastitis and to maintain supply. If pumping is too painful, try hand expression.

I linked a web site below on how to heal after being damaged. It involves, saline solution, ointment, air drying, etc. Good luck!

A very small amount of polysporin 3-4 times a day. Even though it didn't look infected I guess it was because it got better really quickly after I started using the polysporin.

That has happened numerous times to me. Even after I followed advice. Apparently your baby might be very hungry therefore causing her to ferociously latch on. I was advised to have your little one suck on a washcloth or pacifier before you feed. It might help.

uuugh, I had that and it always came back when I had to pump. If you can go lighter on that side, do it, and then when healed, try to get the volume back up.
