you dont gave any food to a child who has diarrhea for 12 hours. just water or weak juice. then after the 12 hours yoy retry him with food. if you give him food before that the 12hours ...diarrhea will be still present. feeding him food and milk feeds the bug causing this. the idea is clearing his tummy of the bug he.s caught. the doctor will also advise this as he has with me on all my 6 children..when you retry food only light items at fist like toast. soup etc

There is not really any thing you can do about it just make sure keep him hydrated. Just check for things that have changed, like going from bottled water to tap, or changing formulas, adding cereal to his milk or even how his daily routines hav changed can cause a baby to have diarrhea or any thing. Just make sure he doesn't get a fever with it then that tells you the body is trying to fight off something and you need to go to the doctor.

What are you feeding him/her???

It's perfectly normal for a baby's stool to appear like diarrhoea, if he'she is simply feeding on milk, and no solid food.

Besides, that baby should still be rather young to consume other stuff other than milk.

You should put him on crackers and pedialyte. Before there was pedialyte our peditrician recommended diluted jello.....

banana is a natural constipator. Rice cereal is one of the easiest foods to digest. Give him lots of fluids, but not much sugar, please, because the sugar can aid diarrhea.

keep him hidratated, if he doesnt want to eat dont force him and to feed him you can use:
polenta
cooked apples (baked or boiled)
grilled meat or chicken
rice water.- (boil some rice and use this water to make him drink it or mix it with his milk bottle).
dont give him sugars, potatoes or any kind of flours which may make him feel sicker.
your doctor will help you more.
