My daughter is breast feeding and her baby boy is only 6 weeks old. Everything seemed fine. She had breast fed her other child and had no problems. She is 30 years old. He suddenly got a white tongue and she knew it was thrush since her daughter HAD had that before. Her appointment is within a week for the baby and her appointment for herself is at the end of this week. Well, a few days after the thrush.....she developed very sore breast....and when she felt terrible and had a fever of 103 and the chills, she went to the e.r. They told her she has a bad breast infection. With the terrible pain they gave her percozat, and antibiotics. She was told she can continue breast feeding and it won't hurt the baby. BUT I feel she should get some formula and put the breast on hold till that infection clears and she is off the meds. She said..no, it'll be o.k. i see the dr. at the end of the week. I told her to call both her dr. and the babies dr. on monday...but daughter knows best. Your opinion?

If a mother is giving birth to twins on day light savings in the fall, and the first twin is born at 1:58 A.M., and the second twin is born 3 minutes later, at 1:01 A.M., due to the time change, who is older? This is not a riddle, just wanted to know people's opinions on it, kind of boggles my mind a little, haha.

Just wanted to post this information for parents with questions about infant ear piercing. I had my daughters ears pierced when she was 3 months old, I waited 4 weeks before changing her earrings, when I took the studs used to pierce her ears off, I noticed that they weren't done right. I contacted safepiercing.org about it, his is what they had to say: "They may or may not close up all the way. One of the reasons the APP doesn't suggest piercing younger children is that even if placed "correctly" now - as she grows and develops they may not stay in a position which is aesthetically pleasing/even. You can attempt to re-pierce them - but if the new holes are placed close to the first holes there is a chance that her body will "migrate" the jewelry to the old location. The longer you wait the less likely this will happen. Try massage and hydration in the area to assist in closing." This does NOT mean I'm against infant piercing or that I regret doing so, but it's good info to share.

Dear Parent,
I accidently cut my 1 month old baby while cutting his nails.
The cut is small but I think big for a baby!
Does anyone out there have the same bad experience like me.
Because he is only 1 month old, I do not know can he use iodine and etc!!
Now I just use 75% alcohol to clean the wound and cover that finger with a cloth.
If any one out there ever had a 1 month old baby with the same experience hope you can share with me!

Thanks,
Worried Parent

My son is going to be 1 year in a couple of weeks and he has recently discovered our bathroom garbage cans. I usually keep the door shut, but every once in awhile I forget and he goes right for the garbage cans. I tried using the one that you have to push with your foot to open, but he figured that out in a couple of minutes. Does anyone have a suggestion for a garbage can that is "baby-proof"?

My 3mth old baby girls sleeping pattern has suddenly changed about 2wks ago and not for the better! I go by the same bedtime routine every night and have been doing this since she was 4wks old. Bath at 8pm, change, feed, nurse then bed where she would fall asleep around 9:30 until 3am no problems at all however for no reason (that i know of) she now cries very hard when i try to put her to bed at 9/9:30. I now have to nurse her to sleep and put her down. A few times she has been out cold in my arms but when i put her down she wakes up straight away and screams her head off until i lift her again!! I know nothings wrong with her because as soon as shes lifted she stops so now i nurse her from about 9-10 and when i KNOW she is out cold i can then put her down without a fuss!! Is she just being nursed too much during the day?? I'd like to get her back into bedtime routine... Any suggestions?

Ok when you make formula from the can it says you have to boil the water and then let it cool to room tempurature fine so i do that.. do i still have to boil water for her to drink in her sippy cup because i just run the tap and give it to her like that.. then whats the difference from boiling the water for the formula does anyone know?

She is not due until January 18 and she is waddling around at work with her belly all pooched out acting like she cannot breath and pretending to be so big she cant sit in a normal chair.
This all has to be fake! This fetus is just big enough to fit into a medicine cup. What is wrong with her?
People keep saying she is going to deliver here pretty soon. She should not be able to even fit into maternity clothes yet. I think she is faking it to get off work. What do you think?

I am needing to know if it is safe for the baby to fly. My girlfriend and I want to start a family but she doesn't live in this country at this time. When I go over to see her this time we are wanting to get marrried and to start a family, but will the baby be ok for when she flies here to be with me and to raise our family? How many months can she be pregnant and for the baby/and her to be safe? I have heard that it isn't good for babies to fly until a certain age. At what age? How true is this?

I'm planning a baby shower for one of my best friends, who is pregnant with her first baby. I need some cute original sentimental ideas. I know we'll be having a lot of diaper cake gifts. We're a huge group of friends so we'll be coordinating so that she doesn't get 15 bottles of johnson and johnson lol. And we're also putting out a bunch of white onesies with fabric pens, for guests to decorate. What else can we do? She's really shy, so no silly games. She'd be mortified if we measured her belly! We want a sophisticated sweet shower-- but I need more ideas! help!!!

My son is 4 months old. We swaddle him in one of those swaddle me blankets every night. He sleeps all night long. If he happens to come unwrapped (this happens somewhat frequently) he always wakes up because he is then free to rub his eyes. Should I continue to swaddle him? Or should he learn to sleep without it?
