The only thing I ever boiled was the bottles the first time before I used them. I never used boiled water to make formula because it eliminates any good flora in the water. Using regular tap water won't hurt your baby. If you are uncomfortable just using tap water, then use a Brita filter on your sink. Works great!

Well if you think it is nec. to boil water for formula...then you should do it for sippy. The way it was explained to me is that tap water used to not be filtered as well as it is today. So by boiling it, you are ensuring it is sterile. I never did this. I didn't have time and my son wasn't patient enough to let the water cool. My son's doc said that this is really not nec. They get the water in their mouth in the bath, and you drink tap water. I asked about bottled water and nursery water that you can purchase and he said that if you have city water this is not nec. If you have well water the nursery water will have more floride but that is it, and bottled water isn't really any cleaner than most tap water.

You really don't have to boil the water unless you have a well. I did the whole boiling every single time and sterilizing once a day for months before i found that out. Then I stopped. Save yourself the trouble, it's completely unnecessary but it's still very common for people to think it is.

1st of all if you can afford it ...Ditch the powdered formula.
It's gross, and dosen't mix all that well.
Get the ready made formula in the can..Open it, pour it in the bottle, put the rest in the fridge..Problem solved.

As far as water goes, the reason your boiling it, is to get any impuritys out, and the Clorine.
In the baby section where you buy the formula, look around and you might find baby water.
Or you could go with bottled water.
Tap water will be fine after the baby is older. as long as you have good tap water.

i have always given my baby tap water since she was a newborn. the only time i give her nursery water or bottled water is when we are out of town, so her tummy won't get upset by other water in different cities or states, because each city and state filtered waters differently. She is perfectly healthy. Now my sister on the other hand had given her baby nursery since he was born and he has had colic and rsv, i'm so sure it doesn't have anything to do with the water, but you have to make the decision that is best for you and your baby.

We boiled the water for the formula for the first baby, it was a major pain in the but. For the second child we sued bottled water and washed the bottles in the dishwasher instead of boiling them.

you boil it to get rid of the bad things TO BABIES.. when they get around 7-8 months I think it is fine to stop boiling the water because they can handle the impurities in the water ( that when they are babies it can cause colic and tummy problems) the best thing is to get a water filter to put on the sink...

I give my babies water from the sink and they're doing ok I think.
But before I used to but deer park and the change never hurt them.
I would said it's just a myth

I would just buy regular spring water from the store in a gallon jug. Or you can use baby water (nursery water i think is what it is called)
