My 9 month old has herpangina (hand, foot and mouth disease). He is coughing like crazy. I am giving him tylenol for the pain by order of the doctor. I am wanting to give him some cough suppressant, I know that it has to hurt him to cough as much as he is.

My son is not sleeping and I have no idea what to do. My 19 month old always slept well and at this point she is sleeping more than my son. Last night she slept 12 hours and had a 2 hour nap this afternoon. My son has only slept a total of about 9 hours in the last 24 and it is only in short spurts. this is not normal right? I was told the newborns usually sleep at least 14 hours a day but average about 16 so what the heck is up? He dosn't seem sick and he gets mad when we try to get him to sleep. HELP PLEASE.

I only came across one person who was upset when I used to feed my son, He was a fairly elderly man and he seemed rather outraged but instead of looking away he just kept on glaring at us!

If you do find it offensive can you explain why please?

Sometimes when I make the excuse that I'm afraid I'll drop the baby the parents just go ahead and thrust the baby into my arms anyway, correcting how I hold it. I didn't want to hold it in the first place lol. How do you politely decline to avoid a scenerio like that and avoid offending the new parents?

I'm am freaking out, she said my baby's head is dented (flatened) on his right side, but get this, this is not the side he lyes on, he actually perfers his left which is not affected. Can it be bc my baby was in the birth canal on his right side for a long time and this is the consequence? He is 4 months old and I don't know what to expect, will he have to wear a helmet?

tampon? I realize that I am going to bleed and have discharge for awhile after giving birth. I'm also not talking about wearing one all day. However I would like to be able to get into my swimming pool as soon as possible since it will be August and extremely hot. Sitting in water with a pad on is not going to work LOL. Heck, id' even consider adult Huggies Swimmer's if they make them. If it was just me that used the pool I wouldn't care if I couldn't wear a tampon in the pool but hubby would be just too grossed out thinking I was leaking in there. Any suggestions ?

I have an 8 day old baby girl who is healthy in every way other than constant stomach cramps. The midwife first thought it was colic but I've researched colic and she is not constantly screaming or suffering other symptoms associated with colic. Whilst sleeping and waking, she is suffering spasms, causing her to bring her knees up to her chest and holding her breath in short spurts to get through the pain. We've tried winding but this has no effect. Any advice? Please don't tell me just to visit my midwife or doctor! Cheers

My son is almost 6 months old and we have been putting rice cereal in his formula and feeding him rice cereal in between formula feedings. He seems to still be hungry though.

What are the best solid foods to start him on?
Should I mix it with his rice cereal?

Thank you :)

I have been having problems breastfeeding since my milk came in and now we have to use nipple sheilds. This is giving me blocked ducts and are proving difficult to drain with her feeds and the sheilds also prevent her feeding as efficiently as she can. I have made the decision to change to formula but need to know the best way to go about it - can anyone help? I still have a painful blocked duct so I am reluctant to stop without knowing how else to fix the blockage but the whole experience is so painful that I can't bear to go on for much longer, I would appreciate any advice!!

I have a 2 month old baby, she the last few days have been acting really weird, It started with her sleeping patters, she would sleep from 11-4 every night, would wake , eat then sleep till 7, about 4 nights ago she would go to sleep till 2, wake up, eat then fuss the rest of the night, she would be half asleep but start fussin here and there. She wont eat more, when she is eating she will start fussing a little bit, and she is more unhappy thru the day, she doesnt sleep that much during the day, Her swing used to calm her down so did swaddling her, now it does nothing, I know she has colic but she never acted like this before, im worried she might have somthing wrong iwth her, ive tried gas drops, burping her, rocking her, everything, we go to the doc friday. its just weird how it all the sudden started.Any suggestions? Thanks

My nephew will be a year old this month and I don't think he's said any coherent words yet. I don't have kids, so I don't know when they start doing what.
