Congratulations!

I think a set of godparents for each child will:
+ Be better for your children
+ Be better for their godparents
+ Be better for you

With love in Christ.

It will probably make things a lot easier if both babies have the same two Godparents. It will be less confusing for the kids when they are getting gifts from them for their Birthdays, etc. I wouldn't want anyone to feel left out if one set of Godparents gives gifts and the other one doesn't.

I don't have godparents, but I am a twin, and I have to agree with having a separate set. Whether fraternal or identical, twins have an amazing bond, and we are very dependent on each other... perhaps a little too dependent. And competitive. If you decide to choose only one set of godparents, my advice for you is to always treat your kids as individuals... it sounds cliche, but it's true... twins always get the same presents, share birthdays, etc... and it's nice to recognize differences because when you grow up you have to be able to cut it alone.

The role of the Godparents is to support both you and your spouse in your commitment to raise your children in the Catholic faith and to support both of you in your new journey as Catholics, partners and parents. In the church it is mandatory that each child have one Godparent and if the parents would like they may have a second of the opposite sex. You may choose either- one Godparent for each child- making one set of Godparents or a couple for both babies. Speak to your Deacon or Priest if you have any doubt.

I had a different set for each. I know they are "twins" but I want them to be an individual as well. I dressed them somewhat alike at first but now they are 2 1/2 years and that has stopped. (Maybe the same type of shirt but with different colors).

I'm a twin and had my own set of God Parents. My sister and I were both glad later on in life because it made us feel like individuals, something most twins don't get to feel once they enter elementary school. If you can treat them as individuals from the baptismal on, it will be wonderful for them! Congratulations and do you know if you are having boys, girls, or the combo pack?

I think I would ask my priest that question. But, I think it's entirely up to you. We had two sets of Godparents for our one child.

You do not have to pick different god parents but you can if you want to all of my children have the same god parent except for the oldest because my brother (the god father) was to Young at the time of my first sons christening. But my brother is the rest of my childrens one and only god parent; most priest frown at having only one god parent but we wanted someone who would always be in our childrens lives not just a friend or person in the church we knew at that time of our lives( we made that mistake with our first child and his god parent is no longer in our lives and he will never see his god father agian) so i always suggest using a close family member of yours.
