We don't know. It could be that he will, but it's okay. Those things are almost always temporary. Their heads are still pretty mold-able, so if he needs a helmet, it'll probably be only for around six to eight months. My niece had the same kind of thing happening, and she wore a helmet. It was hard on my sister, who had to deal with ignorant jerks asking her "What's wrong with your baby?" in the supermarket (she asked at least one person "What's wrong with your face?"... not entirely mature, but it felt good), but for those of us who knew her, we didn't ever see my niece's helmet, we just saw her, and loved her. In fact my kids liked her "hat". She wore it, I think, for seven months. She started out wearing it for 23 hours a day, then towards the end, got to take it off more often. It didn't bother her in the least, she learned to sit up, crawl and walk while wearing it. Now she has a perfectly round head of curly hair.
For now, try to calm down as much as possible (I know, fat chance). Before you go to the referred doctor, you don't know what will happen. Try to keep in mind that up to about a year, a child's head is still pretty easily shaped, so getting to it early is a positive thing.
If there doesn't seem to be any other behavioral, developmental or physical problems related to a flattened head, it's probably a fixable thing that just has to do with shape.

Google craniosynostosis, lamboidal suture, and strip craniectomy. Only the neurosurg can make sure, and you will have xrays, etc. This is nothing to mess around with.
