At 3 months of age, I truly feel that the baby would benefit much more from interaction with you and your husband. Or the family dog. Or a walk in the park. Etc...
As children get older, I believe it's OK to allow them SOME time to watch tv in the week. I can remember being 4 and watching Mr. Rogers Neighborhood and Nickelodeon and letting my imagination run wild with the fantasy cartoons and whatnot. But it was a treat, not something that I expected to be able to do beecause it was there.
And I really think that it's very important for a baby to learn to entertain themselves more than getting their entertainment from the TV. TV is the lazy man's way of entertaining a child, or keeping them busy. (Not meaning your husband specifically at all... I just meant "man" in the general human sense). Why not read to them instead? It's a great time to bond more with your child. Let your imaginations grow together. Encourage exploration of the world through playtime and try to hold off with th tv until the child is at an age where they can actually understand and interpret what is happening on the tv, and distinguish fact from fiction. They'll get much more out of a tv show by then - and will also not depend on tv for entertainment. (Which studies show kids that depend on tv for their entertainment needs tend to be more overweight, and do poorly in school).
TV is OK, as a treat, but I don't think at 3 months it's very appropriate to expect a baby to be entertained by it alone. And someone else mentioned it earlier - it can be too much stimulation for them and cause distress physically and emotionally.

A three month old has no need to watch television. He is attracted to the lights and movement. While small doses isn't necessarily harmful, why start a habit between father and son? Turn the child away from the tv and give him an age appropriate toy. If father wants to bond, put a book in his hands. Its never too early to read!

Actually kids - and the younger, the more so - get overwhelmed with sounds and fast moving images from the TV that they are not sure what to make of.
Kids who watch TV have more problems sleeping and relaxing than ones who don't (or don't watch as much).
We turn the TV off whenever our 8 months old is around and will keep it that way for quite a while.

Studies show that ANY television (even the so-called "educational videos") are not good for children under the age of 2 years. There might be a link, according to numerous studies, to TV watching and video game playing during childhood (including very early childhood and infancy) and Attention Deficit Disorder and learning disabilities.

The American Pediatric Association now states that children under the age of 2 should not watch tv at all. Not to difficult when you have one child but virtually impossible when you have more than one. Dr. John Rosemond believes that television before a child becomes fully literate leads to learning disorders and possibly add. I think that may be a bit extreme myself. It does look like you have a future tv addict there, so I would monitor her viewing very carefully as she gets older.

okay, well your chlild is not adicted to tv, so dont worry about that. He's probably just acknowlading where the sound is coming from. Also, he is probably thrilled by all the colors and movement, which he's not yet seen. You might get the same, can't look away feeling sometimes. Just be sure to limit a young one to less than an hour a day. :)

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no TV at all for children under two. Good info is available here:

Depends on what he is watching. My son spends the morning hours watching Nick jr shows and most of the time unless i'm busy i watch them with him. There are many educational and interactive kids shows that help children to learn different things. I'm still surprised that my son has learned to identify different animals so quickly and he's only two.

tv rots your brain.
but i'd say it's okay, as long as the programming is appropriate & it's not very long, <30 min.
