My cousin is 10 months old. She's always had constipation problems since she was born. Every now and then she will have a good bowel movement, but sometimes it takes a few weeks... other times she just has small hard pebbles. (Sorry if this sounds gross to anyone...) We never paid no mind to it, we just thought it was the formula. But now that she's on foods, we've gave her tons of prunes. Nothing seems to be working. We took her to go see a doctor, he prescribed some laxatives for infants, but that doesn't seem to be working. Any other home remedies??? I'm out of ideas and desperate.

I mean they don't know anything, like love, fun, etc. What could it be? Are they even smiling? or isit just a reflex?

it's not like a twitch like a startle reflex and it's not like the involuntary muscle twitches when falling asleep that we all deal with....this is a rapid twitch sometimes just his arms and one time it was arms, legs and head.

we are getting a referral to a ped neurologist, but while we wait i thought i'd ask you guys....
anyone ever see this in their babies?? he's about 4.5 months.

take care!

Besides a light cold for a cause and "relaxing" for a response (we know both), we are specifically wondering if:

1) we should stop his daily day-care (he is picked up for a half hour walk in the morning to the center)?

2)anything else to do?

I have a newborn who is a week and three days old and she breast feeds and drinks Enfamil with Iron formula. Every now and then when she's a sleep she wakes up, gets real tense, and cries for about 5 mins at a time, and the cry is like a "i have to poop" cry. Her stool is very soft, and I don't understand. could she have a lot of gas from both kinds of milk, or getting stomach aches from it? should i stop breastfeeding?(she only breast feeds when she doesn't want the bottle and I pump and give it too her when I can fill at least 3 oz worth)

is there anything i can do to help soothe her? this is my first kid and i'm really new to all of this.

i know i am not going to marry this person, and my brother just passed away reciently, and i really want to name it after my brother. I hate when girls name their babys after the father, and then the father turns out to be a dead beat, and the kid has to grow up with his name. I actually want my last name too, but I wont go that far. Any suggestions?

Here is my situation: I am 25 weeks pregnant and live aprox 4 hours away from my immediate family (parents, aunts/uncles, ect...) and aprox 3 and 1/2 hours from my husbands family. My sister in law and brother live 15 minutes away and around x-mas time she aked if she could throw me a baby shower. What made her offer ohhh so appealing is that we wouldn't have to travel a long distance to have a shower AND wouldn't have to worry about how to get our new baby gifts back home (4 hours away).
So my question is: Not many relatives from either side of the families are willing to travel in March to my shower and that is fine, but I have about 25 work friends that I want @ the shower. How many is too many work friends becasue I don't want it to seem we're being greedy by inviting more people for more gifts when that isn't the truth at all. I just know when we got married we had 3 bridal showers and we had to travel all over the state to attend them. I just didn't want to do that again.

I plan on giving my baby breastmilk until 12 months old. But, he has bit me a couple of times and he takes a bottle fine at the sitter 1-2 days a week. So, I started trying to pump and give him a bottle for the 11a and 3p feedings. He still takes the breast upon early wakening and bedtime for comfort. But, I am only pumping out 3 oz total to put in his bottle. He will only nurse for about 10 minutes total on the breast at his 11a and 3p feedings. So, is he getting more than 3 oz. out when he nurses, meaning I should supplement with formula to get him to 5-6 oz? He is gaining weight normally and developing normally. I'm confused, please help.

2 questions..
my son is 4 months old and hates tummy time. he can pull his legs up under his stomach but he wont keep his arms in front of him, to learn to push up. he always bring them back to his side, and then he just gets frustrated. any ideas on how to encourage him to keep his arms out in front of him while he is on his tummy.

also, he loves his pacifier..and wont fall asleep without it. (he sleeps thru the night) the problem is, he will wake up at about 4 am, and scream if someone doesnt get up and go put the nuk back in his mouth. and then every hour or so after that until 10am.
should we try the method of: just puting him down, letting him cry for 5 min..go attend to him...wait 10 min..attend to him...etc...until he falls asleep without the nuk?
when he was in the bassinett, it was fine, ebcause i could just reach over and give him his pacifier, but now that he is in his crib, i have to get up and go to his room. its getting really annoying.
serious answers only please!

My baby is 4 1/2 months old and slept throught the night until he got an ear infection and now he is awake every two or three hours. Usually he goes back to sleep if i rock him but the dr thinks that we should push him to sleep through the night. The dr also said that we should just let him cry it out. So last night i let him cry and he fussed for 15 minutes and went to sleep then woke 5 minutes later screaming and i gave in. I cannot just let him cry like that. I know that you are not supose to go in and comfort him but i feel bad just letting him cry. Any suggestions on what i could try besides the cry it out method that kills me. I know I know i am being a softy but oh well.

My baby was on the bottle(formula) from 3rd month and loved it. I saw a change in her after her 6 month shots. She refuses to take the bottle whatsoever during the day. As suggested by the doc, i feed her baby food and cereal. But strngely at night when she is asleep she takes a bottle ful of formula. But if she wakes in the middle of it, she would fight not to take it anymore.

Has any mom experienced the same?
