My son is eating 8 oz already. He's 3.5 months old. Is that too much! He eats about every 3-4 hrs?

He may just be in a growth spurt....keep watch, and see how that much is doing for him...

You may just want to give him 6 oz and then try some water in another bottle to top him off...

The only concern I would have is that is can get expensive

Now, I would have to be honest...during the day, you can start to try a little plain baby cereal...most people think you have to wait until the baby is 4 months, but they give premature babies cereal in the hospital

So, I don't think you need to jump up and worry....just make sure you are giving the baby some tummy time during the day...and little things like that help out so that the baby is burning some calories...
The truth is that they struggle a lot at first, but they get stronger every day...and things like that help out...so don't worry if he fusses about tummy time, because he will learn to enjoy it...especially when he starts learning that he is getting stronger and learning to elevate his body

So, just watch it...and see how things work out....

A general guideline you can use is this: until a baby weighs about 15 pounds, he will typically consume 2 -2 1/2 ounces of formula per pound of body weight in a 24 hour period. After the 15 pound mark is reached and between 3-6 months, it is a general guideline that babies will drink about an ounce of formula for every two pounds of body weight at each feeding, which should be about 5 times a day.

That is a lot! WOW. Most babie drink about 4 oz. at a time. Make sure that you aren't confusing his sucking reflex with hunger. Try soothing him with a pacifier. You don't want your baby to get too big too soon. It isn't healthy.

let him eat. he is already taking that much and there is nothing you can do! have you tried him on baby food yet? he might be trying to fill up because he is ready for food and that is why he is taking so much formula!
