My school project requires me to mirror the cost of a baby for a month. I need all of the supplies (diapers, bottles, etc.) required to raise a baby for a month. Also, how many diapers does a baby go through in a day? I would really appreciate if someone could help me...

Okay, this is based on my 2 month old:

6-7 size 1 diapers per day (228 case Huggies from Costco $40)=$40/month
1 can of formula per week (Kirkland {Costco} brand = $40/month
bottles (Gerber Comfor) $25/year=$2.10 month
Car seat with additional base for second car ($100 plan to use for about 8 months)=$12.5/month
clothes ($100 per size, used for 3 months)=$33/month
crib ($300 plan to use for 2 years)=$12.50/month
changing table/dresser ($200 plan to use for about 2 years)=$8.50/month
wipes=$8/month
stroller (jogging stroller $150, plan to use for up to 4 years)=$3.25/month
tummy time mat, bouncer, swing, other toys ($300/year)=$25/month

So I guess that would equal about $185/month, but a lot of those are up front costs.

Everything depends. You see, it depends on whether, for example, you nurse the baby, or feed formula. If the baby is formula fed, formula only can cost you as much as $200 a month! In average, a baby goes through 5 diapers a day and 5-10 wipes (it can be more or less, depends on the baby and on what the baby ate). Diapers cost can also range from 40 to 100 dollars a month, depending on the brand. Plus, an older baby (4+ months) also eats solid foods, and depending on how many times a day, or what stage food it is, it also adds up. Keep in mind doctors visits and, if necessary, any medication, too!

There are also toys and clothes - I don't know if it can count as baby supplies for your homework, because you don't buy them regularly, so it also depends.

It would be extremely hard to give you an exact estimate of how much it costs you a month to have a baby. The difference can be a couple of hundreds of dollars, depending on how much a family is willing and able to spend. This article below can give you a little more information about basics: http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/pregnancy/pregnancygear/632.html

well babiesrus.com will give you a detailed list of the items people usually register for when they have a baby but a lot of that stuff is really not necessary. As far as the basics, lets start with a 6 month old baby because it gets a little more interesting when they start to eat baby foods. If memory serves, a baby goes through about 3 dirty diapers and 5-7 wet diapers for a total of about 10 diapers per day, an average pack of 50 diapers would cost between 10 and 15 dollars. Wipes can be used for lots of stuff and are pretty necessary, so i would say about $5/week. baby bottles, you will probably need 4/month if you dont plan on sterilizing them (another cost to buy the sterilizer) four bottles a month at $5 /per bottle, formula is ridiculously expensive , $20 per can, expect to go through 4-6 cans a month, baby food, 2-3 jars /day ($1/jar), baby wash, lotion, powder, diaper rash creme, dreft (baby laundry detergent, most babies skin is too sensitive for regular detergent), these items dont have to be bought too often but still would be necessary to watch a baby for a month (say $40), toys and clothes (figure at least 2-3 outfits per day because of 'accidents' food, poop, spit ups, pee etc. , and lets hope the baby doesnt get sick, each doctors visit will be costly (and thats even if you have insurance).
thats all i can think of as far as bare basics
hope it helps

You need 3 to 6 can of formula baby a can a week go to toys rus it $20 a can most place is $27
approximately 350 diaper
You'll need a dozen or so sleepers
gowns or one-piece pj sets
For cold weather try the pj sets. In warmer weather you can use sleepers or gowns. For day or nighttime,
Babies spit up and can go through several outfits in a day. If it takes you a couple of days to catch up on laundry you can find yourself out of casual clothes for baby in no time. Other things you'll need are a few pair of socks, a couple of pair of plastic pants, some pins and a knit hat or two.
Bedding depends upon the season or temperature you keep the inside of your house. Some people think that, if it's cold outside, they must keep the baby tightly wrapped inside. Not true. If it's comfortable inside, the baby doesn't need tons of extra layers. A warm blanket will suffice, if it's summer, a receiving blanket. If there's air conditioning in the baby's room, use the warm blanket.
So, one or two thermal blankets and 10 to 12 receiving blankets should suffice, along with 3 to 4 sets of crib sheets.

Baby can have his or her own towels and wash cloths but it's not absolutely necessary to purchase baby ones. Although the baby sets are smaller, regular towels and wash cloths work fine. Many babies have sensitive skin, though, so wash their clothes and linens separately from everyone else's, using a baby-type brand of detergent. If you will be purchasing all new baby towels, get a couple or more of the hooded type of towels, and a dozen or so wash cloths.

Hi Hun I would help, If its a new born baby you will need lots of diapers for a month- 40 to 50 diapers a month, new born babies go really a lot of times, and there skin are so tender you need to change them regular because you would not want diaper rash,
Now Breast milk is best milk and its free, so it depends on if the person want to breast feed or use formular, Bottles basically you will need clothing depends on what kind of weather you have there, I live in the carribean its really warm here, so vest, nighties, booties, blankies, sleepers, hats, mittens, and soft baby towels,
you will need to get a Basinet, Crib, Playpen, Bathtub, Stroller and a Car Seat, now for you to get the cost of these things would be in TT dollars which will be $3000.00.

You'll need:

Food
Spoons/plates/etc
brush/comb
baby wash/shampoo/wash clothes/towels
Crib/blankets/sheets
clothes/shoes
pajamas
toys
diaper rash medicine
baby tylenol
lotion/powder
high chair
swing
baby bag to carry stuff in
car seat
teether
pacifier
baby monitor
cost of doctors visits/medicines

I'd say a baby goes through 20 to 25 diapers a day.

You might not need the chair or swing if the baby is an infant (like under 2 or 3 months). An older baby needs them more.

Go to a store like Walmart or something to look at the cots and write it down. You might even get a nice employee to take you around to the baby area and point out more stuff to you.

Email me if you need more help. :)

We usually spend about 150 dollars a month, and that gets us 4 can of formula (16.99 each) a box of diapers (168 for 39.99), 2 boxes of cereal (8.00) and about 12 jars of baby food (.69 each). Clothing we got second hand from friends and family so he's good for awhile. My son goes through about 8 diapers a day so a box will last a month. Hope this helps!

lots of baby clothes and blankets and diapers, baby cotton swabs, wipes, baby oil, crib, passifiers, powder, diaper rash cream, baby shampoo and body wash, baby towels, baby lotion, wash cloths and baby comb if your baby has lots of hair, baby beanies, baby bath tub (if it is an older baby you'll need one of those baby seats that the baby can sit in while in a regular bath tub,car seat, diaper bag to keep all the diapers and changing and feeding needs in when you go out with the baby, bottles, baby food and spoons, formula and if breastfeeding you'll also need a breast pump.
There are also baby strollers, swings, changing tables, bouncers, playpens, toys, teething toys....well that's as much as I can think of for now but I'm sure there are more and when my babies first came home from the hospital as newborns I changed them about every two hours or earlier if needed but the last time I brought my last baby home from the hospital(she is now 1yr old) the nurse did mention something about at least 8-10 times of changing is average a day
