it's not like a twitch like a startle reflex and it's not like the involuntary muscle twitches when falling asleep that we all deal with....this is a rapid twitch sometimes just his arms and one time it was arms, legs and head.

we are getting a referral to a ped neurologist, but while we wait i thought i'd ask you guys....
anyone ever see this in their babies?? he's about 4.5 months.

take care!

Do the arms/legs move or more just the muscles? Just trying to figure it out.

Have you had him screened for iron, potassium, and calcium levels? (Just a blood test)

Did you get restless leg syndrome when you were pregnant, do you think it is like that?

My little guy does this too sometimes. It's kinda cute... and nothing to worry about. I've done it too as I fall asleep. For me it's like I get this sensation that I am literally falling, then i startle and wake momentarily and go back to sleep. It's probably similar for him. He's been to the doc for his check-ups and all is fine.

Have you asked your regular pediatrician about it?

I'm guessing your pediatrician must think it is worth seeing a pediatric neurologist in your case?

Always wise to see a doctor if in doubt, so best wishes to all of you.

Hmmmmm.....my baby did this a few times. He would thrash out in a quick spaz, his arms and legs. It didn't seem to abnormal, but you may still want to have it checked out.
