Are you planning on working during your materinity leave? If you are working now and planning on taking the time off (w/o pay) wait. That way you can report your income w/o your pay.
My sister waited until the baby was born and she wasn't working. Her employer didn't pay her maternity time since she is only a part time worker. So, she applied for WIC afterwards with her new income and got if.
I'm not familar with their policies but you could always call and ask. That way you won't miss out if they will make an exception. Perhaps, they figure your house/car and the whole lot into the equation...

I had the same problem maybe you should take the advice of the people telling you to go anyway and just try. If they are stiff on the decision then you have to just whip the breast out and breastfeed. I was told I made too much and I just wanted the milk to supplement breastfeeding. I did'nt qualify so I strickly breastfed and I didn't mind it was free, healthy for my child, you didn't have to go wic appointments, I didn't need to heat up or clean or prepare bottles, I bonded longer with my child, i didn't have to get up in the middle of the night to make and heat up a bottle.

i dont know what state you live in, but when i went to my wic appointment they did not ask for any of my financial information. just proof that i was pregnant, with how many, and when i was due. but you should definitely try anyway. they may take a look at your bills, and say hey this girl can still use some help. good luck

I had the same problem. I didn't go to the appointment for one of the money, but also because they only gave Enfamil and my son spit up really bad on that stuff. I have to give him Similac. I told the WIC woman about our money situation and she told me there was nothing she could do for us. I know what you mean though, it would have been nice to be WIC...formula costs so much.

Definitely! WIC provides more programs than just food coupons. They partner with various organizations in the areas they service, so even if you make too much to qualify for the coupons, they can help point you in the right direction for other services, and you can still meet with a nutritional counselor.
If your child is still in his/her first year, be sure to get their booklet on infant nutrition...it details which foods to give your child and when; it came in handy every time I questioned whether a food was appropriate for my child at that stage of her development.
Good luck to you!

don't tell them about that extra $100...show them a pay stub that shows you made a little less than usual.
Also make sure you are claiming two in your household. You and the unborn baby.
Try to qualify for medicaid too (doesn't hurt to try). Consider it a free pregnancy vs $6500 or however much it is to give birth (i was on medicaid and it was 100% paid for).
