We're trying to find a unique but simple name for our baby girl due in June. We had a boy's name all picked out (Crew) but - its a girl! We want something femine and unusual (i.e. not Nancy or McKenna or Addison) but strong and simple. We had thought of Wren but for similarity to another family name that's out. Any thoughts guys?

My baby is only 5 months old and she's been breastfeeding up until now. Less than once a month, a family member will give her a bottle of breastmilk and with a lot of fussing she will FINALLY take it. So she knows how to drink out of a bottle, she just refuses not to. In about a month or so, I will be rejoining the Army and my husband will be the one staying home with my daughter. I've been trying to ween her onto the bottle, but it hasn't been working. I am still giving her breast milk, the only change is that it's in a bottle instead of the breast. She would rather fuss and cry then drink out of a bottle.

Does anyone have any advice on how to ween her???

I buy Similac Alimentum and in Canada it only comes in a 4 pack of 8oz ready to feed tins,I want to open 3 or 4 tins and pour them into a juice type container for easier access as apposed to opening a new tin every few hours.I just bought a 2 quart Rubbermaid container last night to use but just wanted to get some opinions on wether or not the formula would be good in there,it may only be in there for about 12 hours and has a good cap with a good seal on it.

my actual question is how long should it be from when you can first barely see/feel them, until they are completely grown in and visible?

I have a 3 1/2 month old baby boy, and I was thinking about trying to give him some rice cereal after he turns 4 months. I have read articles that says this is ok, but then other articles say no way. Any opinions out there?

I am 19 yrs old and am 4 months pregnant. I live on my own with my boyfriend. I am working full time and going to school full time. I am a Jounior in college and plan on graduating asap. The problem is that at my current job I am a temp and no paid maternity leave will be given. I want to be able to stay at home with my baby while my bf works and then go to night classes. However we cannot afford this, and we wouldn't be able to afford proper day care either. What can I do?! I just want to be a good mother before anything else.

I plan on going back to work as soon as I can after my baby is born, and I really want to breastfeed exclusively (no formula-- i will be pumping)
On the plus side, I work at a preschool/daycare, so my baby will be right next door. On the downside, the facility is unable to use a bottle warmer due to arkansas safety codes, and can only use a microwave to heat the bottles. I think this is rediculous and frustrating. Breastmilk cannot be microwaved or it losses the nutrients that make it so good for the baby. Can I feed my baby cold breastmilk? or should I just plan on formula feeding him? Breastfeeding is so important to me! any suggestions?

I talked to the Dr about getting my son over the diaper rash (caused by very acidic diarrhea) but havent asked her about relieving the pain which seems to really be hurting at night. Any ideas or diaper creams anyone recommends that help with the pain instead of seemingly causing it?

My son is 8 months old and just started grunting. He does this numerous times throughout the day, but does not usually have a bowel movement afterwards. We know he is not constipated because he poos 4-5 times per day, which sounds like A LOT considering he is on formula. He does eat a lot of solids- 4 oz of veggies, 8 oz of fruit and some protein w/ more veggies mixed in and rice cereal. What do you think all the grunting is from? Is he just having fun making noise? And is 4-5 bowel movements per day too much?

Does anybody have any suggestion on what sounds to use as white noise for my 11 month old? I'm trying something new to get him to sleep through the night (he still doesn't). I'm downloading them & I have rain drops on a rooftop & waves crashing on the beach. Any others that will calm him?

Hi my baby is now 10 weeks old. up to last week she used to have 3 to 4 bowel movements a day, yellow very loose stools, which is ok so far. now last friday her stools turned green so i took her to my paediatrican and he told me that she had mild gastroenteritis. he told me the only thing to do is to continue breastfeeding. she has no fever and no throwing up either. just green stools about 5 times a day. i also called my breadfeeding consultant and she told me that as long as she is not throwing up or has fever, not to worry about it much. she is still have green stools and tomorrow will be a week since she has been having them. on the whole is seems fine, feeding normally, sleeping well and quite alert and smiling. could it be she is teething and did anyone every had this experience with breastfeeding?

In the same bottle, I mean. My baby is 3 1/2 months old and, up until last week, I was pumping exclusively and having no real problems with milk supply. I'm supposed to be going back to work part-time next week and tried to cut out a few pumping sessions a day (to mimic what my new pumping schedule will be) and now I'm barely making enough milk for one day, let alone enough to store so that my baby can have breastmilk while I'm at work. While I focus on trying to increase my supply again, can I give bottles of 50/50 breastmilk and formula while I build up a reserve? My original intention was to give 100% milk all day and then give a formula bottle before bed but she wouldn't take it. She spit it out, made terrible faces, and then screamed like a banshee! Boy was she mad. I don't blame her, that stuff stinks! I feel terrible that I have to give formula at all, but I'm trying not to beat myself up too much about it. I'm doing the best I can and some milk is better than no milk, right??
