I think it is really important to talk to them about everything going on around them. As for games, i used to do head and shoulders, knees and toes; patty cake, row, row, row your boat; and the itsy, bitsy, spider while moving my babies hands/arms around. We learned lots more songs and finger plays at storytime at the library, in my experience with three kids, the younger they were when they started storytime, the better their future behavior was at the library. My first born(boy) LOVED books that had real pictures(not animated) and i would name off the pictures and the colors to him.

see if your local library has lap-sits for infants. that's when the parent sits the baby on his/her lap and reads and does easy finger plays. they'll show you what to do and then you can do it at home. also, they should have books of baby activities. they will have books on things you can do (in the 649's) and books that are baby-proof, made of heavy cardboard (board books) or waterproof material. it will be good for both of you to get out and meet other parents with babies.

I used to tickle my daughter, played peekaboo, this little piggy with her toes, held her up to a mirror and pointed out ears, eyes, nose and mouth, read to her and played with her toys with her.

always read, my son plays with the book but its all apart of discovery, name body parts, make up songs to help remember them. if you get into it (like pointing with the babys toes) it is funner, i sing-eyes, ears, nose and toes. then throw in one like belly button and tickle him. i also sing the alphabet but i interact with him by stopping and acting like he can finish it but then i just continue on. peek a boo is funny to then if you dont use a blanket over their head, it seems to scare babies. also play patty cake just using the baby's arms and sing things like row row your boat, make up motions. i grab his feet and pretend like he is running away like the gingerbread man. it makes story time fun. i hope this helps!!! congratulations on the baby!!
