My baby is only 5 months old and she's been breastfeeding up until now. Less than once a month, a family member will give her a bottle of breastmilk and with a lot of fussing she will FINALLY take it. So she knows how to drink out of a bottle, she just refuses not to. In about a month or so, I will be rejoining the Army and my husband will be the one staying home with my daughter. I've been trying to ween her onto the bottle, but it hasn't been working. I am still giving her breast milk, the only change is that it's in a bottle instead of the breast. She would rather fuss and cry then drink out of a bottle.

Does anyone have any advice on how to ween her???

you may have to try different bottles to see which she will take the best, with a nipple most like the breast such as advent, playtex nurser, a soothie nipple, and gerber also has a bottle out now.. my sons liked the playtex disposables the best and i think it was because as they drank the bag would collapse and make it easier, as to a regular plastic bottle does not collapse as they suck.

and then when its time to feed offer the bottle, more often than the breast.

best of luck to you

This is a very traumatic time for little ones who are used to their special time with mom, try switching nipples, there are so many different shapes and options out there as far as bottles are concerned, also you may want to consider letting everyone but you feed her. I know this will be hard for you and her both, you may consider switching completely to formula, your drying up process will take a little while too, could be as much as 2 to 3 weeks. I wish someone would have told me long ago when I had our first baby to do one bottle daily, so that if they had to switch it would be easier, believe me you with our second child I did one bottle at night to help them sleep better because formula digests slower than breast milk and also to help them be used to a bottle in case I could not be there to feed them. She will probably still resist a little, but each day will get easier. Good luck.

listed below are a pair of issues you may attempt: a million) Get somebody else to grant him the bottle - in case you attempt, he in all threat won't take it as he's conscious the actual deal is merely there 2) If he refuses the bottle, do not immediately grant the breast - this might sign on your son that each physique he needs to do is fuss a dash and he gets what he needs - if he won't take the bottle, merely pass away it for an hour and attempt back. 3) attempt giving the bottle on the time of day while he's hungriest (ie first element in the morning/after a protracted nap) 4) attempt categories of bottles - it may be the case that he merely would not like the particular teat you have been employing. I used the Tommee Tippee "closer to Nature" bottles and had super achievement with them. sturdy success!

Try the Playtex disposable bottle. Their nipples are really soft and they bend really easy. My daughter love them. With other bottle she plays around before she eats. I breastfeed and use bottles.

Not to worry get a nipple that is like a breast and it should work. having a piece of your clothing around help a great deal. Make sure who is feeding her she is comfortable.
