This happened to me in elementary school. At the time I didn't think much of it, because I lacked perspective. I did think EVERYONE else had "better" parents, because they resembled their parents and I really longed for the connection of looking like others and being understood. I felt like a round peg trying to live with squares.

When I met my real parents when I was 21, they were much younger than my aparents. I have no doubt they would have been MUCH easier to relate to growing up. And been similar in age to my peers parents.

It seems to me that if you want to put off adopting children till late in life, you certainly shouldn't take an infant. A great deal of my childhood was spent in the hospital with sickly (old) aparent. Don't young children deserve vital parents?

They are parents but man, they don't know their own children well. And they guided their children on a horrible path.

Do you expect different things from your sons and daughters? Do you want your daughters to be pretty and your sons to be strong? Or something else? Do you think of your children the same regardless of their gender?

My hubby and i are trying to think of a name for our son, but we don't want to use names that we have used on previous children and we don't even wanna use the same letter for this baby. So my other children's names start with J, S,and N. My husband likes the name Sebastien but i like it more with an "L" so Lebastien. Lebastien just seems to roll off your tongue better, we both mutuall agree on Anthony for a middle name but i think Lebastien Anthony sounds better than Sabastien Anthony.
Which name do you think sounds better and what is the first thing that you think of when you hear Sebastien? and what are your thoughts on Lebastien?

In 2003, my 14 yr old grandson begged me to take him & his 3 siblings in as he said their mother (my daughter) was neglecting & abusing them. It proved to be true and I was granted custody of the four children. I adopted them in 2005, bought a bigger house so they all had their own rooms, a bonus room, their own phone & computer. Bought a cool motor scooter for them. This was made possible by the fact that I have received adoption assistance income for these children so they have a great life now. BUT, the oldest turned 18 in Nov. and he now won't go by house rules because he says he is an adult. Since he is in high school (plans to join the Navy but failing 2 classes) I still receive income for him. SO he claims he being "paid for" and doesn't need to contribute. He works 8-20 hrs/wk. He won't do chores. Won't save & buy a car. Thinks he can come and go as he pleases. Threatens to move out. I said Go For It but he stays and ignores. The 3 younger children watch with great interest.

For a boy we like Everett Thomas (my husbands middle name is Thomas, as is his grandfathers and uncles)

And for a girl we really have NO clue... we like a few of these

Alora Jay
Emily Jay
Evelyn Jay
Emerson (Emmy) Jay

What do you think of these names? Other than "cute" or "hate it" I'm trying to picture what a little kid with these names would look like, act like. When a teacher reads these names on a roster what will be her first thoughts? We really like Jay as middle name for boy or girl because its a name that runs on my side of the fam, like Thomas is on his side.

We like unique, but somewhat traditional names. No McKennas or McKaylas please!
Help us out, we really appreciate it-- thanks!

-Not having a baby-

Last night I asked a question about what elements would make good names, and Tungsten stuck out to me. So what do you think? No real reason, but if I did adopt a baby in the future, I'd like to know if it is a good possibility.

I was wondering if I was having a misscarriage would I bleed continuously??? It's weird the day before yesterday I was active in the day, doing stuff, going places on the busses etc. all day no bleeding, got home took a nap and then took a walk too walgreens about 5 minutes away. A little while after I returned home I started bleeding not heavy enough to soak a pad. It slowed down pretty quickly and then 20 minutes later started again and there was one little tiny black clot, then it was ok for the rest of the night and the next day. Then yesterday I took it easy and nothing all day, I took a walk to another apt. where a friend lives and when I returned I was bleeding again and also one little clot but nothing heavy. It stopped and nothing for the rest of the night and nothing so far today. I tried calling the doctor at my obgyn office and she's not in today. I havent gone to the hospital because the bleeding isn't heavy and it stops and isn't continuous. Does anyone know whats up??

was quite exciting i must say.
but the nurse seems to think i'm retarded.
i told her that my last period, started on september 20th.
and for some reason she seems to think she knows better than i do, and is saying it was on october 11th.
but i know, 100% it was september 20th
so could this mean, by what she sees, the baby is underdeveloped or something?
my doctor says im 12 weeks 4 days, and the nurse who did the ultra sound said i was 11 weeks 1 day?
whats going on ?
it kind of angers me, i know when i had my period better than they do.
but for some reason they seem to be soo sure i was wrong.

My son is 4 and ever since he has been potty trained I have put him in those 'little-boy' brief underwear. How long did your sons wear those? I think he might want to wear boxers but I don't know the right time to change over to those. What do you think the best style of underwear for little boys are? And where do you purchase these? Right now I go to Target to get the briefs.

I had my first ultrasound at 8 weeks (due to an issue at work... I got hit and had to go to the ER). Anyways- the ultrasound came back wonderful. The baby was fine and had a very strong heartbeat.

Now, I'm 12 weeks along, and figured the Dr. would be able to hear the baby's heartbeat by now, but my last appt. (which was three days ago), he wasn't able to hear anything. I told him I had an ultrasound, and he called for the results. He said everything looked fine and the baby was doing great... but how come he couldn't hear anything?

When were you able to hear your baby's heart for the first time? Would something be wrong if you couldn't hear it at 12 weeks? I know I'm 12 weeks, because I had a dating scan which confirmed this at 8 weeks. My due date is 6/28/08. At the facility I go to, they won't do your first ultrasound until you're about 20 weeks, unless you have complications like previous miscarriage, they suspect something's wrong, etc. I'm just kinda worried.

When did you start your baby on "big people food?" My 6.5 month old eats baby foods and rice/oatmeal cereals. I am afraid to try other things because of food allergies and choking. When should he start trying real foods and what did you start with?
