They are parents but man, they don't know their own children well. And they guided their children on a horrible path.

I am talking about decisions that your parents made in regards to activities you did, etc

are you a parent? if you were, i don't think you'd say that. sometimes it's good parenting to hold your kid back from some things. yeah, parents don't always do things perfectly...they're human. and some parents really do intend to harm their children but i don't think that's the case with most parents. and how are they supposed to "know" their children completely? it doesn't matter if they're your own kids, they have personalities of their own. kids don't come with instruction manuals. we're all just learning as we go along here...

this is probably the opposite of what most ppl would think when it comes to this, but i wish my parents had pushed me a little harder or atleast asked if i wanted to sign up for sports or somethin.

then if it wasnt for me i wouldnt have had to keep it up. but i only took gymnastics for a short time when i was very young and then we moved and that was it for that. and i loved it.and they never even tried to sign me up for anything till i was a teenager and said hey i wanna give this a shot. and by then it was too late i had no skill at it all compared to kids who had being playing since they were 5yrs old.

so i wish they would have offered things up to me.Sometimes i feel like i have absolutely no "talents" because they didn't prime me to have any. granted being that horrible irate parent on the sidelines or the pagent mom is bad too, I feel like theres a happy medium.

i guess parents do what they think is best though and in the end you never know if it's going to be or not.

Absolutely. I missed out on a scholarship to Duke because my mother blew it off, among other things. I think she was just selfish and never really cared what happened to us. SHe fed and kept a roof over our heads, but creatively and academically, I absolutely feel like she held me back. Hope I never do that to my kids.

The only perfect parents are on television. Parents really do try to do their best. Only hindsight is 20/20. And when you're a parent, you'll understand your parents a lot better.
