-Not having a baby-

Last night I asked a question about what elements would make good names, and Tungsten stuck out to me. So what do you think? No real reason, but if I did adopt a baby in the future, I'd like to know if it is a good possibility.

It's definitely a lot better than some of the "trendy" names floating around...

I don't like it as a name for a person. It reminds me of a boy who was named Sterling which is better than Tungsten, but still not an appropriate name to me. More importantly, I think other kids would tease a boy named Tungsten.

Isn't that the last name of the lady who sings Black Horse and the Cherry Tree, okay actually it's Tungstall but seriously Tungsten not a name I'd give to a child.

The kid has the cards stacked against him already by being adopted, why would you want to make his life any tougher by naming him something like Tungsten? Other kids will tease him in school, and like someone else said, they will probably call him Tung. which may or may not be a bad thing with the ladies when he gets older LOL

I used to work in the Tungsten Carbide industry so I think it
reminds me of black dust that gets everywhere, altough its
base element Wolfren would be a strong name for a boy

Another name for the metal Tungsten is Wolfram - which I like better. Tungsten sounds too much like "tongue", which would get the poor kid ridiculed and he would end up hating you (which is not your intention, I'm sure).

It does sound "Nameish". I looked it up. Tungsten means "heavy stone". It would probably be better as a middle name. I would hate to get the nickname "Tongue".

I've always been partial to molybdenum (lol).
Tungsten? Well, it's hearty. How about Torsten? That's a solid Scandinavian name.

If you ever adopt, do your child a favor, name him Eric Jr., he will be proud, and so damn thankful you didn't name him Tungsten......
