was quite exciting i must say.
but the nurse seems to think i'm retarded.
i told her that my last period, started on september 20th.
and for some reason she seems to think she knows better than i do, and is saying it was on october 11th.
but i know, 100% it was september 20th
so could this mean, by what she sees, the baby is underdeveloped or something?
my doctor says im 12 weeks 4 days, and the nurse who did the ultra sound said i was 11 weeks 1 day?
whats going on ?
it kind of angers me, i know when i had my period better than they do.
but for some reason they seem to be soo sure i was wrong.

It's just what the ultrasound measurements indicate. They questioned me too and my periods are very regular and i was 100% sure of mine but the ultrasound indicated that I was a week off. My baby was measuring 21 weeks and 1 day but according to my last period it should've been 19 weeks and 6 days. It's nothing to worry about. My doctor didn't change my due date. It's ok if its a little off.

the measurement of the fetus is the only completely accurate way to know. Girl's periods aren't always exactly on schedule, and neither is their ovulation. (You are talking to someone who has about 3-4 periods per YEAR...my last period was in MAY and I am only 12 weeks pregnant here in december...so your past period is not necessarily a great indication of how far along you are.) Your doctor would know better than the nurse, and the ultrasound measurements should give you a pretty acurate date, give or take a day or 2. (All babies grow at the exact same rate up until 12 weeks gestation) Hope this helps!

The ultrasound measurements will change throughout your pregnancy. My first ultrasound I was worried like you b/c it said my baby was only 7 weeks and 3 days and I was suppose to be exactly 8 weeks. -it was a trans vaginal ultrasound- I wasn't told a due date so I called the office and the nurse said to go by the ultrasound so she figured it up for me and it was June 4th I think. Well at my next appointment my doctor said that since the ultrasound is just an estimate and that it is close to when I KNEW my period had started that they are going by my LMP so my due date is May 28. At the next ultrasound the measurements were only a day off. But like my doc said, they are only an estimate/average. My friend didn't know when she last had her period so they went by the ultrasound so her due date changed a few times.
Since your the dates are so close I wouldn't worry about it. I'd listen to your doctor and double check at your next appointment or call and get an answer from your doc.

Good luck!! and congrates!!!

I'm 24 weeks pregnant and my last period was july 5th. When they do an ultrasound and they measure the head, it usually shows on the monitor how far along you are. Last time mine said 23 weeks and i agreed because i think i was 23 weeks and a couple of days.

I'm sure your last period was when you say it was, but maybe you didn't get pregnant the month after that, because maybe you "missed" a period, meaning you didn't ovulate that month, and that your last period before you got pregnant should have been in oktober like the nurse said. Did i make any sense??

anyways... wait another month or so and then go to get another ultrasound. I'm sure everything will turn out o.k.

You may have just ovulated a little later, as long as the baby looks fine everything is ok. My baby is measuring about 9 days behind when my period was. My doctor just said the my ovulation time was off, since my periods range from 28 to 32 days. I am 23 weeks now and she is absolutely perfect. Don't worry about it.

Congrats and good luck!!

They can tell how many weeks a fetus is by its size and the level of development, because it grows from nothing to a baby in such a short amount of time that the size and development alters dramatically every week.
I dont think you are retarded and I believe you know when your period was, but I dont believe you ovulated until a month after your period hence the baby.s development.
So really both you and the nurse are right.

The same thing happened to me. My last period was August 5th, and when I had my first ultrasound they asked me if I was sure, and I was 110% sure it was then. But they said it must of been August 21st. I talked to my doctor about it and she said sometimes we will ovulate later then 14 days. I have my big ultrasound next Monday and maybe they will say my baby measures bigger, I hope so.

Remember that when they do measurements at the ultrasound the months they are giving you is from conception, and the other is the date of your last period. those would be 2 completely different dates. Sounds like the office needs to get it together!!
Good luck

The great thing about this country is freedom of speech. Just relay this information to your doctor and say apparantly you are not going by my last period date so when are you? Tell him that the nurse keep insisting on when your last period and you are not sleeping with her. Talk your mind and i am sure you will get your answers.

A lot of times the ultrasound measurement and your last period are off by 2 weeks or so, its completely normal, they will go by the ultrasound to determine your due date
