I bought one of these too but I didn't read the fine print that says it only works well after you enter your third trimester. Before then, all you really hear are digestion noises. Any heart tones that you hear with it will be very faint and will depend on where the baby is laying. It works best if he/she is laying with their back to your front. If everything was fine at the doctors office, I wouldn't worry about it.

As a first timer, I was worried to death about everything and I didnt even get to see the doctor for the first time until I was 11weeks. Then I went every 4 weeks after that up until I was 36wks. I was always afraid something would happen and I wouldnt know. I had 2 of the fetal heart monitors, and I never could hear anything on them until I was 38-39wks pregnant. Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much, but if you are then you can call the doctor and I'm sure they'd let you come in to hear the heartbeat because they know that stress isnt good for the baby, or you might even talk to the doctor about somewhere you could rent a doctor grade or hospital grade whatever its called fetal heart monitor, one like they use in the office. They are definately better quality and more sensitive to pick up the heartrate better.

That is why I refused to get one of those things. I knew I would freak out if I didn't hear the heartbeat and thing is the baby moves around so much that it may just be the baby being ornery. I know its hard to trust, but if you aren't bleeding or cramping and if everything feels normal, than it probably is. As soon as you start feeling fetal movement that will help because you know your little one is in there doing fine.

I have a heart listener too, I'm 35 weeks and still haven't been able to hear my babys heart beat on that thing!! All I hear are little kicks and thumps, and my belly growling. I asked everyone about this too and not one person heard their baby on theirs either. Honestly I think they are just a waste of money, trust me dont worry if you cant hear your babys heartbeat, you probably wont, but they are kinda neat to hear kicks and things, also if you hear your little one kickin around in there then it's fine!

My baby is a mover and a hider and I didn't hear his heartbeat until 19 weeks but ultrasounds confirmed he is great! It's a lot harder to find the heartbeat at this stage and doctor's have a lot more practice doing it. If your baby moves a lot, it's not so easy. No need to worry!

Most of those crappy retail monitors don't work. IMO, all those things do is cause needless anxiety in women, as your question is a prime example.
If you aren't having pain or bleeding, rest assured your baby is fine. Within a few weeks you should start feeling regular daily movement and will be more confident baby is ok.
