For a boy we like Everett Thomas (my husbands middle name is Thomas, as is his grandfathers and uncles)

And for a girl we really have NO clue... we like a few of these

Alora Jay
Emily Jay
Evelyn Jay
Emerson (Emmy) Jay

What do you think of these names? Other than "cute" or "hate it" I'm trying to picture what a little kid with these names would look like, act like. When a teacher reads these names on a roster what will be her first thoughts? We really like Jay as middle name for boy or girl because its a name that runs on my side of the fam, like Thomas is on his side.

We like unique, but somewhat traditional names. No McKennas or McKaylas please!
Help us out, we really appreciate it-- thanks!

I know that it's nice to use family names, but I really don't like Jay as a middle name for a girl. How about Jo? Or Jane?

Here's what I picture when I hear each of these names:

Everett--a little boy in camo playing football
Alora--a girl in a pink dress with dark hair
Emily--other than myself (that's my name lol) I picture a cute girl with a funny personality
Evelyn--an old lady
Emerson--a boy

There's really not a name from your list that I don't like except for Evelyn. How about Ava Lynn (as the first name)? I think that's adorable. I don't like Emerson for a girl either..it wouldn't be horrible, but it's just not my favorite. I would even suggest using Emerson if you have a boy. Emerson Thomas is a great name.

Well, Emerson is my favorite choice of the girl names but I do think on first meeting teachers will think it's a boy's name (since Jay technically is too). Evelyn is an old lady name. Alora I think you might have just made up. Emily isn't so bad, though not really unique. The nice thing is you could call her EJ for short (or EmJay).

I love the name Emily, all of the Emily's that I had while I was teaching toddlers were very easy going, smart little girls. I love that name...
I had two Emmy's and they were ALWAYS into trouble,
Evelyn is so old fashioned... I love the name and the only Evelyn I had seemed like an old soul.
I have never heard the name Alora and I'm not sure how it's pronounced, however if it's A-lor-a I LOVE IT... my favorite of all of them!

Good Luck!

My favourite is Alora Jay. If it were to be my choice,I really like Jessie Claire. Most unique names are two parts like Anna Rose or Holly Faye. Another unique name is Balinda. Or if you prefer, Balinda Jay. Balinda means patience, endurance and fortitude. If you want a boy name try Nathan Thomas, Ryan Thomas, Andrew Thomas or Xander Thomas. Xander doesn't have to neccessarily start with "x". One of the names I want to name my girl is Naomi. Try Naomi Jay, It's unique and pleasant. Good luck!

I love Everett Thomas, it is classic but not too common.

For the girls, the only one I wouldn't do is Emily only because there are sooooo many Emily, Emmas...etc.etc. I do love all of the other girl names, they are beautiful but don't look like you are "trying to hard" to be different yah know? Evelyn is my favorite just because it sounds so pretty when you say it. =D Jay is good for a boy and a girl. Its great when people pass on family names.

Good Luck!!!!

I don't really like Alora and Emerson I would think it was a boy especially with Jay (another boy name) along with it. But a name doesn't change how a kid will behave or how they would look.
I really like the boy name you chose though.

I really like Alora...sounds nice for a child or equally nice for an adult. Very pretty. I know a boy named Emerson so I really don't like it for a girl. Emily is okay but, I don't like it for an adult. Especially if you are going with Emmy, which you could probably use for both emerson and emily. Too kid like if you ask me. Evenlyn is pretty but, it reminds me of an older person. Go with Alora Jay, very feminine and also adult (professional) In my oppinion anyway...hope it helps!
