Well, I don't expect my son to wear dresses, nor do I expect to have a makeup battle with him when he's 13 and wants to wear dark eyeshadow. When I was pregnant of him, I dreamed of little league and football games, not ballet and tea parties. But truth be told, I want my children to be whatever they want to be. My son is beautiful, if I do say so myself =) But I want both sexes to be strong emotionally and mentally, which is much more important than physical strength. I want them to be happy, healthy, and empowered individuals, regardless of their sex.

The basic want I have for any of my kids is to be the best them that they can be. But each person is different. I have different expectations based on the individual child, but its not due to their sex. For example, if a child has a learning disability, your expectation for his school performance may be different than that of a child who has proven that they don't have to struggle to make good grades.
I think its natural to have different expectations for different people as we're all individuals who ara capable of accomplishing different tasks. If your child has an artistic mind, help it to flourish. If your child is very grounded, again, help to build that up. Its all so dependent on situation.

I want the same things for them in general. I want them both to be strong. I don't want her to be pretty.....she's already gorgeous : ) I know that their father differentiates what he wants for the kids by their gender, me.....not so much. As long as they are happy, healthy, and productive.....I'll be just fine.

If by expecting my duaghter to wear dresses for formal/special occasions, and my son to wear a suit for formal/special occasions, then yes, I do expect different things. lol. jk. No, I think that when i am a parent, I will expect both of them to do their best at whatever they are doing.

I have 2 boys and 1 girl. I have the same expectations, to be good, caring, fun loving people. And I want my boys to be able to cook and take care of themselves and for my girl to be able to change a tire. I'm all for self-sufficiency and allowing them to pursue whatever interest they have, regardless of what sex it is stereotyped for.

i dont have kids but i would have different expectations for my kids though because you usually think that every choice they make is a bad one and you dont want them to be a bad person. thats why i would though!
