Pregnancy & Parenting - 5 December 2007

I am 29 weeks pregnant. 2 months after I found out I was pregnant, it seems like everyone else I know got pregnant too. I was really excited when I found out I was pregnant because it was not an easy thing to accomplish(it took 4 years). So , anyways 2 months after my husbands cousin called and said she was pregnant. I was happy for. I just knew that nothing was more important to me than my pregnancy. 2 weeks after that, one of my friends found out she was pregnant and didn't come to my baby shower because she said she should be worrying about herslef instead of someone elses pregnancy. How does pregnancy prevent you from going to someone elses baby shower? Anyways, the thing that really pisses me off is that my husband and I had our names picked out from before we actually got pregnant. When we found out it was a boy, it was already planned that we are going to name him Christian Antonio. On Sunday, his cousin told us that they too were going to name their son Christian. I am pissed.

I don't get it. My husband and I wanted to have a baby SO bad, and now I am 4 months pregnant, WE are happy, but when we told his family they were happy too, but we just found out its a boy and the whole family wanted a girl...I told them and their response was " Well, you should get another ultrasound just to be sure." That really pissed me off...I mean im having a BABY...should it really matter to them what it is...a baby is a blessing and it just upset me so badly when they said this. Anyone had a similar experience??

I am currently pregnant and have told my employer. I have just heard that from my direct boss that the director will speak to me next week about them wanting to change my position. I am currently a manager in an insurance company and there are no risks or other reasons why I cant do my job. If they insist that I take a different role how do I stand? I have tried to look all over the internet about changing a contract whilst pregnant but I cant seem to find anything relevant. Any advice would be really helpful as I dont want to lose my position and practically be demoted just for being pregnant!!

My son is 13 months and still in diapers. Lately he has been taking his diaper off by himself,along with that he trys to sit on the "big toilet" and he also knows how to flush it. Is this a sign that he is really to begin potty training?

im on my third day away from my babies who are in intensive care. I have been told by a doctor i have food poisoning and cant risk the infection to them... i really miss them and it hurts that i can only watch them through some glass....

few questions really..

how long does it take food poisoning to clear?

can i do anything to speed up the process?

and

will it effect my babies me not being there to hold them for the past 3 days?

i can wave at them through some glass so they still see me, im just not allowed into the room to hold them. i really miss them and love them.

I understand most vaccinations. But to avoid the chicken pox? Why?

Researchers say children getting the pox is a GOOD thing, as their bodies/immune system are learning how to fight. If you don't give them something to fight, how will it strengthen?

They also say, it is actually dangerous to get the vaccination because it will wear off when they are adults, making them susceptible to the pox ..... which can be deadly to adults.

Yes, some families have a bad history of the pox, in which case I understand if you want to avoid it.

But other than that, come on guys .... the chicken pox is no big deal. We, as humans, have been getting it for ages. Don't fall for it. They are not "omg, so dangerous!". In fact, more people have died from the vaccination than the actual chicken pox.

So, WHY get the vacc????

Why is there so much anger? Maybe I am naive , but is it not better to have been placed up for adoption if the birth family could not take care of you? Also, were you told as a child or did your adoptive parents wait until you were a teenager and tell you? If they did not tell you at an early age , do you think that is the reason for the anger? Do you think had they been honest it would have been easier for you to deal with? Any answers appreciated

Hi all
I just wanted to see if this was just me or if all women experienced it.

I work in a male orientated office, I am the only female.
Since I fell pregnant, I have felt like a burden on the business. (Women are more of a risk when it comes to employment I know)
We all have our legal rights i.e maternity leave and antenatal classes. But I feel like its just too much hassle for them.
I dont get my lunch hours when I am supposed to.
I have been really poorly with sickness and have always been in and never had a day off with it which I feel is good.

Its just making me think twice about coming back after the baby?

Its making me feel really down and upset and in earlier stages i considered an abortion due to the way work made me feel.

Any advice or help?

I want to adopt through the children's aid society. I've already called them and they're going to send me the information. What should I expect with the home inspection?

I am not willing to adopt from another country simply because I know that their are kids in Canada that need good homes as well. I am not racist, so please do not say anything to me along those lines.

I went to the DR today he said my HCG was 4030 and he did an ultrasound I am 5 weeks and 2 days he said all he seen right now was a sac. He did not see a embryo yet should I worry or is it just to little . My next ultrasound is the 20th of december maybe by then he will see something? Please help

im 8wks although been told 3times ive miscarried and even been through surgery for a suspected eptopic, which wasnt!my HCG levels have been rising at a low 60% which they wernt happy about. after the op, they dropped from 850 to 590.they said it now looks like im miscarrying and had more done today to see if they are dropping as they should. Instead of dropping, finact they've gone up slightly to 646. i know this is not 'normal' and they want to dissolve any tissue that could be in my body...but somethings still telling me to hold on. these levels at 8wks are really not good, but i cant let go everytime i get a positive.please, can someone help! x

My normal temp time is 6:30am. I know if I wake up before that and I know it won't be 3hrs of sleep before my reg temp time then I go ahead a temp then, BUT my question is. On my chart do I leave the time at 6:30am my reg time OR should I change it to the time I woke up early? I know I check sleep deprieved but just curious if I should change my time on the days I accidently wake up early.

Can a pregnancy test come up negative and you still be pregnant? I haven't had my period in a month and a half. I do have a doctor's appt but not til next week.
