Pregnancy & Parenting - 18 October 2007

....I heard about the advice that you need to start potty training children when they are ready, not before because it probably be very difficult....
but how do you know when they are ready...?
what are the "signs"..?

I have a 2 year old boy, he now sometimes takes off his trousers and nappy and goes on the carpet...which i guess suggests he might be ready but i am not sure...
he was born premature and hasn't started talking yet, so i was thinking if i start the potty training and he gets the idea how would he let me know when we are outside that he needs the toilet...?

My parents are pushing me for driving lessons when I turn 17 in April. Personally I dont feel ready to drive and I might not be safe, plus I dont think I need them yet. Im at College now and I just use the bus and I feel that taking my test and then getting a car would be pointless until I have left College. Plus I dont have much of a social life so I dont need to be anywhere if you know what I mean?

Ok. Well since everyone I see asks random questions and others ask about how well they named their children, so I just wanted to know how well I named my children. My boyfriend and I have been thinking about having a baby lately. He is unsure because he doesnt think he will be a good father. His father abandoned him and his mom when he was younger and his mom told him it was his fault. So he lived at home and took care of his mom and sister until he was 23. We've been dating for a long time and want to start a family. How can I convince him that he will be a great father? He is so afraid he will turn out like his dad.

(please dont answer if youre going to say we should be married before we have a kid.)

she sleeps at like 9 but wkes up 2 times before 12 then sleeps till about 5 then wakes up every 1 to 2 hrs after to eat.why is she doing that? i was told they should sleep through most of the night by now.

In general, combined with good parenting and teaching\guidance from the parents, do shows like "Sesame Street" and "Dora the Explorer" really help kids with early concepts? Or are they basically entertainment to young minds?

My daughter just had T/A surgery and I wanted to know what other foods besides popsicles, jell-o, pudding and chicken broth my daughter can have. Also, she's been eating a lot of popsicles and thats all she really does want to eat... is that ok? Im trying to feed her diff. things but she'll only have a little of it.

Okay, this is really hard for me to say, but I need to help myself.

Heres what happends: We moved to kentucky two years ago because my dad got a job offer. She used to be fine in colorado because we had family and friends. Now, she is EXTREMEMLY moody. She will be happy for one week and take me and my sister places and act like a mom should.. but then the next week she wont get out of bed and says shes having a breakdown and how were "so hard" kids. She talks on the phone all the time when shes like this, and she wont leave the house.

My dad travels too, so when hes gone I cant have any friends over (My mom is to drunk) and its too embarresing to do anything. She wont take me to school (I cant ride the bus, im in walking distance) and she wont do ANYTHING.

Then the week after that (If im lucky) she will be fine and deny ever being "crazy"

Please help, I was crying a ton today.. and I feel like my soul is like just breaking down. I dont understand.

Im only 13.

lastnight i couldnt sleep well i woke up in the middle of the night because i was feeling nauseas and i kept peeing also i was weak and really tired.Also i was getting hot flashes and i felt uncomfortable i felt sick i dont no if im pregnant is it possible i was ovulating right after i finished my period i had my period October 1st. my fiance thinks i might be pregnant because im moody and sleepy all the time. can someone help me if they can i would love some oppinions and im still feeling nauseas. I'm almost 7.5 months pregnant and everyone thinks that I'm small...they tell me I need to eat more, or no way is that baby going to be big...I look huge to myself, I look like a basketball is in my stomach. No where near some women though. I am taking birth control beacuse i have pcos(polysistic ovarian syndrome) which means with out my BC i wont have a period.
what i want to know is.....

if any of you out there has done this, and if so then will i be able to stop bc, and have a regular period since ive been on bc so long and then be able to concieve???


or will i have to take fertility drugs??

I just want to know because i dont want to get off bc, try to concieve, think im pregnant, and then realize its just my PCOS!!!

I'm 36 weeks preggo, 3cm dilated, and 100% effaced. My doctor says I'll more than likely deliver within the next 2 weeks. She took me off my medicine to stop my contractions and said I can start walking and doing all that stuff to induce labor. My question is, even if my baby is measuring big, isn't 36 weeks still a little too soon to actually *try* and self induce?
