As far as the actual test, everyone is right.
As far as the actual "drink", YES.....drink it as cold as you possibly can. Mine was ice cold when I had to take it with my daughter (don't know yet this go round...early November for me). It tasted kind of like the "old" drink Tang, but a little sweeter. Everyone kept telling me how disgusting it was, but it really wasn't that bad. As for the exam, I don't remember if they did one then. This time they aren't since I have to go to the hospital to do it this go round.
Good Luck and congrats

depends on which test you have to do there is the one hour well there is 2 forms.. one where they draw your blood make you drink this really weird tasting orange pop in other words its dextrose drink..(to check glucose..) and then one hour later check your blood lvl again. or they may just have to drink the drink and then check it an hour later.. there is also a 2 hour one and a 3 hour test. as i have not had GD just been borderline i didnt have to do the 2 or 3 hour tests... the baby may get extremely "hyper" and you may get the shakes.. depends on the person honestly.. its basically a sugar high... i get the shakes and after its gone i get EXTREMELY tired... the drink isnt that bad at first but towards the end of drinking it its hard to force down for me.. if you puke it up then you have retest...(that really sucks if that happens) other then that its like drinking a lil bit of a weird tasting sunkist orange pop (warm) someplaces give it to you cold while others dont... depends... good luck. i just had mine done on monday test came back fine on tuesday... they were worried about me having it too but i was fine...... they dont do an exam its just blood work. most labs you have it done at you have to stay there for the entire hour ( you cant eat or drink anything not even gum.. you can drink water is all though) good luck... its a LONG hour or at least it seems like it so take something to entertain yourself for an hour

A lot of doctors have different drinks,at mine it was an orange drink, which tasted like I had opened an Orange Soda, then let it go flat,It was really not bad at all. After you drink it,you will wait one hour and then get blood drawn. If the drink tastes gross just plug your nose when you drink it,they give you about 5 minutes to drink it,so dont try chugging it if you dont like it.

You will give you finger pricked and your blood sugar checked. Then they will have you drink a really sugary drink and wait an hour. Then they will check you sugar again to see how fast your body metabolizes sugar. Really simple...I wouldn't think they would do an exam. They usually don't with this type of test. Good Luck!

Did they give you this nasty thick drink at your last appt and tell you to drink it 45 mins before ur appt this week? that's what they did with me and they just take your blood... I dont think you'll get the results right away tho. I had mine done at around 28 weeks also..altho I wasnt told that i was at risk, so they may do things different with u , good luck!

I failed the 1st glucose attempt and exceeded the three hour one yet that became into early in my being pregnant, so I even have the 2nd one that they do at 7 months coming up in a week. For the three hour attempt, they make you drink that candy stuff and then they draw your blood. they'll poke you alot. i could advise bringing something to consume as quickly as you get out and anticipate to in all danger experience unwell. i comprehend I felt incredibly unwell once I drank the candy stuff and then once I left I have been given incredibly shaky from no longer eating for a million/2 the day. My wellness care provider for this attempt (I switched medical doctors) advised me you could consume till now the attempt yet to adhere to proteins like eggs and Baron Verulam and stuff like that.

It really just depends hopefully you won't have the nasty drink. Mine was pretty good, tasted like kool aid that had a little to much sugar....I had 5 minutes to drink it and then had to wait an hour to have blood drawn.

You have to drink a sweet solution (tastes like soda to me) and then have blood drawn 1 hour after.
30 weeks tomorrow!
