Tell the truth, she's going to find out anyway. Why lie.

I think being truthful is important but not overexaggerating. I found that a lot of women made it seem like the worst thing on earth (a watermelon through the nostril) and that scares you when you're pregnant. When I finally had the baby I was pleasantly surprised, not nearly as bad as I was expecting.

So truth-telling is good, scaring new mom is BAD.

If it were me asking I'd rather know the truth and not get a huge shock when it all happens!

My sister-in-law just had her first and she was always asking me questions and I always told her the exact truth. She thanked me afterwards cause she was a lot more prepared than what she had anticipated - so the truth always works best!!

But I suppose it does depend on the person!!

If she had asked me i would tell her my experience...It did hurt, it is a pain you can't describe but then again it is something that is so amazing and you get a real kick out of it..Your body works in an undescribable way and as silly as it sounds, helping your baby get to the world and to hold him/her for the first time makes me want to do it again and again..that must say something!!

So, in my case, i guess it'd the truth :)

Its best not to sugar coat things, preperation must take a big part in labour mentally as well as physically. This is my first and speaking with friends who are mums i asked them to tell it straight, you see on medical programmes that it isnt easy so why lie to protect them.
just remind her that yes its extremeley painful but once your baby is in your arms its not soemthing you think about. Obviously its not something that affects you long term else women wouldnt have two, three, four children?!!! lol.

The truth, it's not like she hasn't already heard it. But I would also tell her that drugs are awesome and the result was the most amazing thing in the world.

I would tell her the truth but not scareher to death. I hated horror stories when I was pregnant.

Of course it hurts! Tell her the truth so she can be prepared for it. Otherwise she'll give birth and then you look like a liar.
