Been there, so here goes:

I was on birth control for years because I have polycystic ovarian syndrome, too, and couldn't have a period without it. I stopped taking the pill because I did not like the way it made me feel, plus my husband and I firmly believed that if God wanted us to have a baby, we needed to be off the pill. I went off of it, and had periods on my own. I did nothing in the way of birth control, and 3 1/2 years later, we found ourselves pregnant. I had a great, easy pregnancy and a healthy baby boy. I am currently taking Provera, to help me have a period, but nothing else. We use the rhythm method for birth control now. Good luck to you!

I don't have any good answers, all I know is that my husband and I have been unprotected for 5 years and still nothing. I suggest you talk to your OB/GYN about seeing an endocrinologist. I have been taking Metformin for a few years which is supposed to help with the symptoms of PCOS. Then I started taking Clomid a few months ago. (a fertility drug) But you can only take that when you start a period and without BC I have never been regular. I will go anywhere from 28 days to 9 months between periods. But everyone is different and GOOD LUCK!!

My daughter has PCOS. She is almost 23. She is not currently trying to conceive but is on birth control pills and Metformin. It is helpful in your case to know how birth control pills work. For you, they are being used to bring on a regular menstrual cycle which may help control the development of cysts in your ovaries since birth control pills work by suppressing ovulation. The cysts develop because the eggs mature but do not leave the ovaries thus forming a cyst. The birth control pills are stopping the ovulation for you. For a woman with PCOS trying to conceive, absence of a menstrual cycle will not be a symptom of pregnancy, unfortunately. Your doctor will be your best resource as there are several drugs available that are not necessarily fertility drugs, but are designed to stimulate ovulation. Additionally, depending on the severity of your PCOS, there may be other medications you'll need to take while TTC to help balance the level of hormones in your system. If you don't have a doctor knowledgeable in PCOS, you may want to search for one before TTC.

You should ask your doctor about it. I don't know how the PCOS will affect it, but lots of people get pregnant the first month off of birth control. I know I did. They don't usually put you on fertility drugs unless you have been trying for at least a year. But again I don't know about the PCOS and your doctor will be able to give you advice specific to you and your situation.

Not sure I understand your question. I don't think you're ovulating on birth control, so you need to get off it to try and get prego. You need to see a fertility specialist--maybe you need Clomid to enhance ovulation and periods off birth control.
