My daughter just had T/A surgery and I wanted to know what other foods besides popsicles, jell-o, pudding and chicken broth my daughter can have. Also, she's been eating a lot of popsicles and thats all she really does want to eat... is that ok? Im trying to feed her diff. things but she'll only have a little of it.

I just recently had this surgery and I can tell you it is painful so anything cold is very soothing. Besides, what you've named applesauce, ice cream, and cream of wheat were ok. Just make sure everything is plain.

I understand her only wanting to eat popsicles. The cold numbs her throat. At least she is eating that. I wouldn't eat anything for the first two days because the pain was so bad, I didn't even want to open my mouth.

Also, when she is ready to eat regular foods again make sure you dont put any type of seasonings on it at all. The salt, pepper, etc., would get caught in the wound and the pain would not go away for a while. The wound should be healed within 2 weeks. But for 2 weeks after, still go easy on the seasonings. I hope she gets better soon. Good Luck.

When my daughter had hers out they brought her a turkey dinner right away. We were told to push her to eat real food so that the incisions healed slowly, otherwise the outside would heal before the inside and blood would collect. She did not cooperate and had a post-tonsillectomy hemorrhage the day before she started her senior year in high school. What a mess! Check with the surgeon to see if this is an issue for your child.

After my daughter had her tonsils out, her favorite thing was frozen go-yort's (not sure about the spelling). I wouldn't worry about what she is eating. As long as she is staying hydrated.

Let her eat what she wants...they cauterize now, there are no knives or stitches involved. If she wants a steak dinner, let her have it. If all she wants are popsicles, let her eat them!

What did the doctor tell you to do? Follow that list until she's ready.
