we are so obsessed with pregnant women being "big"; yet equally obessed with a post-partum woman squeezing into a size 2 immediately after birth.
as long as your health provider says your baby is growing fine, don't worry about the comments.
i swear, the obsessing over body weight is too much.

I am 5 months and most people wouldn't notice that I am pregnant. I am very petite and short, so far I've only gained about 5 lbs. I was very sick during my first trimester and wasn't able to eat much, now I am better and eating more but still I don't gain as easily as other women would. My first child I only gained a total of 23 lbs. after delivery I went back down to 108 lbs. I'm just a small girl, and they thought I would have a small child. When he was out he was 7 lbs, 5 oz, not the 5 lb baby that they predicted before. The other day a co-worker mentioned that I look more like I had a huge dinner rather than being pregnant. It gets annoying but flattering as well since my figure hasn't changed much, besides the bump most people fail to notice. It doesn't matter how many pounds you put on as long as your baby is growing healthy with no problems that is all that matters.

Don't listen to anyone! Last weekend I was at a party, and there was a girl there who is due a month and a half before me. (I'm due 2/14/08.) She was carrying so small it was hard to tell she's even pregnant. I, on the other hand, am carrying high and all in the front - I couldn't believe I was bigger than her. The size of the belly rarely has anything to do with the contents! It depends mostly on the position of your uterus, not on whether or not everything's fine with the little one. If you carry towards the back you will look smaller, it's just a fact. Enjoy it because I have this child squashing my stomach, diaphragm, and lungs already and it's starting to become uncomfortable. Don't let other people's opinions worry you...no two pregnant ladies are the same! Good luck and congrats!

Don't listen to small people, just walk away. I'm 5 1/2 months and I hear the same thing your so tiny you need to eat more blah blah as long as I know I'm doing all the right things I don't listen to what anyone else has to tell me. For the ones that are persistant I just tell them well I was small to start with.

EVERY WOMAN IS DIFFERENT,and everyone will have their opinion,if your doctor isnt saying anything about your size, there is no need to worry, but still ask if it is bothering you.Im due next week, and people tell me Im small for being 9 months,my friend is due November 6th and is HUGE,she looks like shes having triplets, but both of our babies are healthy so far! I also know a woman who was gigantic, and they induced her because they said she was having an 11lb baby..the baby came out 6!

As long as your doctor says you're healthy, and your weight gain is appropriate, I wouldn't worry about what everyone says. I know it can be hard, but have you ever noticed they don't tell women who gain a ton of weight to STOP eating? How annoying! I'm small for my pregnancy, too, but oh well! My doctor says I'm doing fine - and thats what I tell everyone when they make comments. I usually ask them, "Oh, what medical school did you graduate from?" Yes, it's snotty, but what business do they have commenting on your body!?

yes it is irritating, when i was pregnant with my son i didn't start to show until 6 1/2 months along, and everybody ask "are you even pregnant" then the last month i gained 15 more pounds, and had my son a month early, and he was 6.4 lbs. so no worries, they are just jealous that you stayed so small and they git huge.

I have the opposite...my stomach was huge during the first pregnancy and my daughter was 7lbs, and it is big during this one too.
Everyone is different, I wouldn't worry about it too much, so long as you feel that you're eating enough and not trying to diet.
