I agree partially with Chuck36, however, once the baby is born the mother should refrain from using drugs. Teh drug epidemic in the US is bad enough without subjecting young children to it in their home. There are a lot of people that will say "Pot is harmless". If it is harmless then why does every person I know that smokes only pot seem to have a bargin-basement IQ, when before they were of average intelligence? It's best to just stay away from it. Anything you ingest gets "Inhaled" by the baby via the placenta. Would you stick a joint in an infant's mouth? It is the same thing!
Studies HAVE been done that have proven that drugs and alcohol ARE causing problems for babies. I know a guy that is 25 years-old that cannot live on his own because his mom was an alcoholic and drank heavily while pregnant.

Think of it this way..If cigarettes can cause harm to your baby such as respiratory problems and low birth weight, then obviously marijuana is going to cause harm. It has chemicals in it, plus burns your brain cells..Imagine what it would do to a fetus' newly developed brain cells? The baby cannot handle that. It is NOT smart to smoke weed while your pregnant..I suggest you stop this habit right away. Dont do it while pregnant and harm your baby. They CAN and WILL drug test you if they suspect it or for any other reasons and you WILL lose your baby to Child Protective Services if you get caught. Same goes for after the baby is born. You cannot continue this habit, you could lose your child for good, lose all parental rights if youre caught with it in your system, if someone finds out and turns you in, if you get pulled over with the baby in the car and your high or have some on you. Think about it. Baby or Weed? Thats the ultimate question.

I have to say this is just ridiculous! Why all the judgments! There are studies that show alcohol harms the baby...to the moron above; however, he is right that there are NO studies that show pot harms the fetus. The only evidence they have is that people who smoke pot also more than likely smoke cigs and that is where the developmental delays come into play. Also for the oh so smart one that said it kills brain cells...do a little research. Pot does NOT kill brain cells...brain cells do NOT die...they regenerate. The only thing it does is hinder them for a period of time. You people should really do all your research on things before you just spout off at the mouth. In my opinion, yes, it is not the greatest thing to do...however, abortion is not a form of birth control either and yet, some people do that! Should they be banned from ever having children?

Personally, I dont think that someones right to bear children should be in jepordy becuase of pot. I think thats the most ridiculous thing Ive ever heard. Some people are so sick throughout pregnancy that they cant keep food down and if smoking a bowl allows them to eat dinner and nourish their baby who is anyone to judge them?Some people are so high strung and stressed out from pregnancy in general that a bowl may be less of a risk than the constant stress on the body. Nobody here should judge someones choices. Find me a study on marijuana during pregnancy that doesnt start with the sentence, "not much study has been done on this topic". You just dont know. Whats worse the chemicals in tabacco or weed... its proven tabacco will harm a fetus although not to what extent and its proven that alcohol will affect a fetus... never has it been proven that marijuana will...

maybe they were getting thumbs down because of the way they answered not what they said. I think it is wrong and I truly don't understand why some women subject their babies to it.
Sometimes people on this forum, however, have crazy feelings for or against something and instead of saying their opinion in an adult way, they go crazy....
Sometimes I give a thumbs down, and report people not because of what they say (I could care less, I try not to judge 'em) but of how they say stuff....some of it is really abusive....especially in the freakin' abortion posts. My God.

I agree. It is wrong. Why would you want to get your baby high before it is born? It will most likely need glasses, be colic (sp), and be born premature. Why not just quit for at least the 9 months you are pregnant. I think it is selfish to do anything harmful to your body while pregnant.

I don't think it's a good idea to smoke pot ever. But while pregnant, I would say it's even worse since everything you put into your body crosses the placenta to your baby. Who knows what kind of effects that can have on a developing brain and nervous system. But, that's just me. And apparently no one ever likes what I have to say around here (too much truth, maybe?).

yes i do agree, people who smoke pot shouldn't be allowed to have kids. it ruins brain cells, and cause delay in development. but dint worry when the baby is born they do a blood test and they will find pot in her blood system. and if she lives in a good county cps will take the baby away. its sad how certain people cant even think about their kids, just themselves.

i agree with you, when you decided to get pregnant you decided to care for and allow this baby to be created inside of you.
the girl was ignorant for even asking if it was okay to do while pregnant!! i saw the question and thought she was to dumb for an answer.
my nieces mom smoked pot all threw her pregnancy and after and my niece is so developmentally behind its sick! when she was a baby she would just stare at the wall and didn't crawl till she was 12 months and didn't walk till almost 2.
it can and most likely will harm your baby.
she no longer has custody of my niece thank god
