There is so much recent evidence today that baby walkers are so bad for babies development. They actually delay walking, not encourage it, and they result in many more referrals to physiotherapists for walking problems, including walking on tip toes. They are also dangerous as an immobile baby is suddenly given wheels and speed, without the developmental maturity to deal with her environment.

The same goes for baby door bouncers. Both are sadly used too often as passive babysitters.

The best place for babies to learn to walk is lying on the floor. There he can roll around and learn to explore his environment safely, using the right muscles at the right time in his development. Why are some people still putting their babies in these things and expecting them to use muscles that are just not ready yet. I suspect due to lack of info.

Why also, I have to ask, are these things still sold in the shops, given the mounting evidence.

My brother and sister in law had their first child prematurely at 24 weeks. They named her Anabelle Grace, and she was absolutely gorgeous. However, she only weighed 11oz, and passed away after 3 rough days (last Friday). Of course im sad about it, because it was my neice, but thats not what im asking about. Im wondering how i face my bro and sil. I dont want to smother them, but dont want them to feel isolated either. I feel so akward around them because i dont know if i should talk about her, or try to keep their minds off of her. What do i do?

I hope it's just not me who thinks those are obsurd names for children.

im not sure what the best option is though i know i dont want to give it up i hate the idea of abortion but after the baby is born if i keep it i will still have to work and finish highschool i dont know how to afford day care i mean its really expensive and im only sixteen ..what should i do?

can constipation during the last 2weeks of pregnancy trigger more contractions off i have had loads of braxton hicks and stronger stomach cramps which is causing pain at my groin are which is because my baby has dropped i think
but can it affect the contraction if i am constipated

my boyfriend and i want to know if you are required to give your child the same last name that you have. he says that in chicago that you are requiered to give your child the last name of its father and if you are not married the last name of the mother. i don't think that's true for california but i'm not sure. they can't force you to give your child a name you don't choose do they? i told him he's wrong because i have a last name that is not the same as my mothers and she's never been married.

I took a pregnancy test 3 days ago .. it showed up that i was pregnant. We were sooo happy.

But when i woke up this morning, to my surprise i had started my period.

Could i still be pregnant?

OK, we all know cigarrette, drugs and alcohold are bad (all the time but specially while pregnant). But I want to know exactly what is the damage they cause to the baby in each stage.

PS I am NOT using any drugs or drinking nor smoking.

I just want to know because everybody says "It's bad" but nobody seems to be able to say it is bad because....

First of all, I am a proud nursing mommy. I have nursed 6 children, one of them until he was 2.5 years old. I have nursed in public many times, however, I am as discrete as possible. I try to expose as little breast (by pulling my shirt up) as possible and then, after my baby has latched on, I drape a blanket over us.

This weekend, our family was at a carnival. As I was enjoying lunch with my boys and some of our friends, I saw a lady walking by. I had to take a double take because she was walking and nursing her baby - all the while her entire breast was exposed. She had on a tank top that had been pulled down and you could see everything but her nipple. There were well over a 1000 people walking around. She sat down next to us. Peering over, I saw her baby latch on to her other breast and caught a glimpse of the entire thing, nipples & all.

A part of me wants to give her a pat on the back. The other part of me wants to say, "please be more discrete".

What do you think?

I have a relative that is 30 years old, her career is finally going in the right direction, she has two young boys and has recently divorced. The problem is, she had a one night stand with someone that was a casual friend and now she's pregnant. She is talking about an abortion and wants my advice. Now she knows that I am a christian and Pro Life. I don't want to come across like I'm judging her. I love her and really feel for her situation. She realizes she made a huge mistake even before she found out she was pregnant. There is absolutely no possibility that she and the father would be together. (Two wrongs don't make a right.) It is possible to be pregnant after 1 time of syringe-based insemination? I haven't been on birth control in 4 years. I smoke occasionally, but it's a rarity that I'll have a drink. I'm of normal weight and don't have any significant health problems.

I inseminated at home using a needlessless syringe on Sunday. I kept my hips evelvated for a half an hour. Now, I've been nauseous all day today, but after having two children and doing some research, I know it's way too early to predict that as a sign of morning sickness. According to babycenter.com, I was ovulating at the time of insemination and that day happend to be at my peak.

Please offer some advice. My partner and I are anxious to bring a child into this world together.

I am four weeks pregnant and I was already starting to show at 2 1/2 weeks. This is my second full-term pregnancy. I had a baby, got pregnant again, had a miscarriage, and got pregnant again. Is it normal for me to be showing so quickly at 2 1/2 weeks? Is bloating a pregnancy symptom by itself? I also have Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
