Yes it does sound childish, and it is very overused now.

Yes ... but that's probably because a lot of the Kayleighs I know are very young ... I only know three Kayleighs (actually, one Kayley and two Kayleighs) over the age of 10, but about 9 under 10.

In addition, one of the Kayleighs I know over 10 is a sweetheart and I love her to death, but she is a tremendous twit. Uber popular, the only natural blonde at my highschool (she was prom queen our senior year as well), but as bright as a box of rocks.

Although, if it means anything, I think that Kayleigh is a sweet name, and every Kayleigh I've known has been a complete angel. It's also no more childish than Sophie, or Zoe ... it's just that there are a lot of children now that have the name. However, at one point, Gertrude would have been thought of as a childish name because it would have been a name a lot of children had ... so as soon as this wave of Kayleighs grow up, it'll be an adult name again ^_^

Since Kayleigh can be shortened to Kay, then I think this would be a good transitional name. She could even go with Leigh, but "Kayleigh" as a whole sounds a bit childish.

No, my 16 year old cousin is named Kayleigh, and I think it's fine. She goes by KK for short .Try out different spellings to see which one you like:

Kayleigh
Kaylee
Kayly
Kayley
Kaylie
Kayli
Kelie ( I know this one is weird, but that is how my friend spells her name)
Kalie
Kaly
Calee
Caylee
Cayleigh
Celie
Caly
Cayli
Caylie
Cayly
Cayley
Calie

Hope this helps.

My best mate is called Kayleigh, and it really suits her. She doesn't even suit Kay... and that's grown up...lol. I think it's a lovely name. I know a few more people call Kayleigh and none of them have it shortened to sound older either.

I think it's fine, if when she becomes an adult and she still thinks Kayleigh is childish, she can be called Kay.

Honestly, I think Kayleigh and kaylee and kailee and kaily and kayline and kaylie are overdone.
She'd probably go by either Kay or Leigh as an adult.
